Very nice salad, the steak was well seasoned and lightly charred. They put some truffle oil on top, which added to the flavor (Fun Fact: did you know that most truffle oils aren't even made with truffles? Its just chemicals!)
For a salad which came with a set, it was really good!

The burger had 2 pieces of grilled chicken breast, which were well cooked and seasoned. The veggies were fresh, and higher quality than the general stuff you get with burgers. The bun was well toasted, and still soft in the middle. Pretty darn good burger for the money. 


It’s also the first time I’ve seen a burger served with tater tots, a welcome sight! 


Overall (9/10)

This is probably one of the best value-for-money lunch sets I’ve ever had below 100 (before service charge). Other than the soup, the food was superb! The service and environment is also decent.
I would definately recommend you to give it a try!

1) Bangers and mash - Its hard to mess up a simple dish like this. Mashed potatoes were nice and creamy. Gravy was a bit lacking in depth. Sausages were decent. I liked the addition of caramelized onions on top. 7/10

2) Beef Shank - This is supposed to be one of the signatures of the restaurant. Weighing in at 5kg it certainly makes for a dramatic entrance. The menu suggested that this be shared between 4-6 people but we could barely finish it with 9. The meat was decently tender but the sauce again is lacking depth of flavor, unable to penetrate the meat. I was quite disappointed as I had some hopes for this dish. 5/10

The menu was nicely bound in leather, they had a decent wine list (about 9 or 10 of red/white each that can be ordered by the glass), lots of craft beer, liquor and some non-alcoholic selection. The food menu was sufficiently varied without overwhelming the mind, though everything sounded good and it was a tough call. We went for the nicoise salad which had a good quantity of seared tuna and fresh greens. The mini beef wellingtons were cute, but I prefer a slice from the original thing because there's more beef to pastry ratio. The tenderloin made up for my meat crave, and it was super good quality, grass-fed, tender, juicy, succulent, seasoned and cooked perfectly to my request. It also came with three delightful mayo and pickles. The bangers and mash was a hearty no-frills pleaser.

Service was prompt without being intrusive, staff were up to par for a recently opened restaurant. Overall, very good, better value than their cousin Wooloomooloo, and a much more New York style funky hip decor. Already made reservations for our next meal, and no, not the next anniversary, can't wait that long!

Soundwill Plaza Midtown is the start of making Tung Lung Street, the once cheap eats of locals who want al fresco late night dai pai dongs or upstairs drinking bars to a more upscale dining area run by Harlan Goldstein, Wooloomooloo, etc. There was even a Lamborguini shop downstairs.

There is outdoor seating. Since we had a group of eleven, they asked if we would rather sit outside as there is more room, but seriously .... in this heat? No. So, we insisted we just have one friend sit at the end. The table had more than enough room for at least twelve, so it was not a problem. There are several long tables for six that include a beer tap that you purchase a card and pour yourself beer. Another reason I wanted to try this place as I was curious how it worked. But since we had a big group. we couldn't get one of those tables. But we asked anyways if it was possible for us to still try it. The waitress asked a higher up and said since one table was not used, we could go ahead and do it! So YAY! Play with the beer tap we go! CHUG CHUG CHUG CHUG CHUG!

How it works is you purchase a smart card with a minimum amount of $300. You use that card to operate the beer tap. You pour your own beer until all the money is used up and you just top off with more money. And carry on. They require a minimum of four people to participate but only three of my friends joined in as the others wanted cocktails or craft beers which they had a fine selection of. The waitress still said it was ok. The beer served at the beer tap machine is Heineken and Tiger only.

You basically, take your beer card, tap on the words "Tap" to select your beer. Then you pull the beer tap and icy cold beer comes streaming out. Then take your beer card, tap on the words "Tap" to stop. The waitress said froth is not included in the charge and it will automatically stop when it reaches the top. Unsure how that works exactly. Each of my three friends got at least two rounds of beer each from their $300. So, they paid happy hour prices for a non happy hour time slot. They were happy campers.

Then comes the food. A friend wanted the soft shell crab burger but the waitress said it was only available before 5 PM. SO SAD! So we chose other things. Some shared among a group and some not.

Chicken fajita. I tasted a bit of that. It was ok. Chicken was moist and the tortilla was soft. But it was bit under seasoned. But we're in a steak house! BRING ON THE COW!

Mixed grill was $450 but was enough for two people. It included two pork sausages, two lamb sausages, one steak, one lamb chop, grilled tomato. They didn't ask how we wanted our steak but it was still medium rare so quite good anyways. The lamb chop was also not asked how we wanted it but still medium rare and good. But this is what we were waiting for. The 4 kg beef shank! Limited availability, we asked if they still had it and they said they had ONE MORE LEFT! So, we ordered that before we ordered anything else. The menu said it was enough for 3-4 people but the waitress said all eleven of us would get a healthy portion. And she was right! It was huge! I had not birthday cake but man! OH MAN! This was like cutting into one. This cost $1280 but it also came with three side dishes. We chose creamy corn, sweet potato fries and tator tots. Actually quite a good deal. The meat was soft and fell off the bone. The gravy was one beefy sweetness. It had a bit of mashed potato on the bottom to hold the it upright so it would fall. And the mashed potato was dripping in gravy.

One friend ordered a burger. It came with tator tots as well. The burger looked juicy and nicely medium rare. Friend said it was a good burger. Worth the price as it did come with a side dish. BLT burger doesn't even do that. You have to add on to get fries and it comes out around the same price anyways.

As it was my friend and my birthday celebrations, boyfriend told me that he wouldn't bring a cake as the cake cutting fee was a WHOPPING $150!!! You can get a real cake for that! So, he decided to order two desserts from the restaurant and they were so nice to write our names in chocolate with happy birthday and lit a candle. We shared the desserts.

The apple streudal in tortilla shells were a bit nonspectacular. Unsure why call it a streudal when it's not in streudal pastry. Anything else is just apple pie filling and in a tortilla shell, it's just apple turnover. But I love apple pie filling. I can eat it without any pastry so it was still yummy.

Service was great. The waitress was amazing, friendly and helpful. She even told us the food was enough and no need to over order. One of my friends, an avid cyclist, noticed we were seated near the bar and had a tv. He asked if he could watch the Tour de France and the bartender happily changed the channel for him so he could watch it all night. Such great service!

I will definitely be back. To try the lunch sets which I saw ranged from $88 - 118 and to try the soft shell crab burger as it wasn't available in the evenings.

After learning about this new joint, my sister, her friend and I decided to check it out. Environment & Hygiene:Nice decor. I like that they have booths, high tables and outdoor seatings for the crowd. At the time we visited, they were still working on the beer taps at the ends of the tables. A very comfy environment, where I can totally see myself chilling with a beer. Taste & Value:There were a few lunch sets are available. Environment & Hygiene:
Nice decor. I like that they have booths, high tables and outdoor seatings for the crowd. At the time we visited, they were still working on the beer taps at the ends of the tables. A very comfy environment, where I can totally see myself chilling with a beer.

There were a few lunch sets are available. All came with soup or salad, a main and coffee/tea ranging from about $88 to $138. Since my sister and her friend had a snack before coming, we decided on 1 lunch set and a sandwich to share. 

What we got:
Caesar Salad The ingredients were in pretty big chunks, like the croutons, cheese and egg. This salad was very fresh and wasn't overloaded with dressing; not bad.

Chicken Guacamole Open faced Sandwich ($108 Lunch set)
Strips of golden brown bacon on top of a chicken patty topped with guacamole and alfalfa sprouts, this earthy sandwich was put together beautifully visually. 
 Of course, the bacon was good. The chicken patty had a sausage kind of taste, which I didn't quite like, and it had a lot of herbs/ spices mixed in; strong to the point that I couldn't taste the guacamole. Then, alfalfa sprouts also have a strong flavour, so again another thing that was overpowering. Not as tasty as it looks. Lucikly, the coleslaw on the side was delicious and refreshing to eat.

Softshell Crab Club Sandwich ($138) Quite surprisingly that you get 3 portions that weren't actually small. I'm not sure how one person would finsih all 3 him/herself along with the tater tots. I have mixed feelings towards this dish. The freshness of the ingredients impressed me, 
but the taste was lacking. I have to admit that it was the tater tots that attracted me in the first place, second was the softshell crab.
 The tater tots didn't disappoint me and were delicious. As for the sandwich, the bread was surprisingly soft and didn't scrape the roof of my mouth. The cajun sesaoned crab was light to eat and not greasy at all. However, what I really didn't like was the sauce. There was just way too much lime.

Service:
The hostess was polite and sincere. 
 The staff inside was less friendly and wasn't too happy that we were sharing the food and seemed annoyed that we asked for water and side plates. Oh well~

Final Verdict:
I wouldn't mind coming again for a beer or maybe give their beef dishes a try.

For appetizers we ordered the calamari and mushroom toast. The calamari was good but small portion. The mushroom toast was two pieces of bread over a skillet of mushrooms. It was good and full of garlic flavor.

we also ordered quesadillas which were delicious and cheesy. We tried the japanese beef and it was bland except for the dark red strips of veg on the side, which I did not know were chili and so it burned my tongue.

For the main course, we had a burger, carbonara and a rib eye. The burger was said to be half a pound but it lookd and felt small. In any case it was good enough. The carbonara was tasty although a tad dry and the noodles should have been cooked a bit more. The rib eye was char-grilled well, but the inside was a bit dry and powdery. And for 200 g at $365 I felt it was on the expensive side.

For dessert we had the apple bread pudding and that was good. We also had the brownie and that was bad and dry.

This place is owned by wooloomooloo and I feel like it is inferior.

餐廳內有些餐枱特別裝備了自助啤酒機,方便 happy hour 時,客人可以自斟自飲。

不過喝酒還是早了一點,吃漢堡飽,奶昔當然不可缺少。但侍應回答她們最接近的只有一款叫 "Cookie and Cream" 的 mocktail,小弟以身犯險之下試了一杯,可惜口感實在太稀,否則這頓午餐應可算是超額完成。

Caesar Salad $110: 7.5分, 頭盤方面, 就簡簡單單的來一客凱撒沙律吧. 羅馬生菜質感是幾爽脆的, 巴馬臣芝士亦算幾香濃, 配上煙肉以及香脆的麵包粒同吃, 還是令人滿意的. 不過這裡的凱撒沙律還加入了蛋, 醋, 以及鯷魚, 帶點點酸, 跟平日吃開的版本不太相像. 我還是喜歡傳統的版本多一點.

Black & Blue $145: 8.5分, 來到扒房, 除了吃牛扒, 少不了的項目是吃漢堡, 是晚的選擇就是Black & Blue. 賣相對辦, 份量也不少, 起碼有半磅牛肉, 就算四個人分吃也無問題. 牛肉的肉味濃郁, 肉質是幾軟熟的, 配上藍芝士同吃, 香儂的藍芝士味道, 跟牛肉的化學作用是相當突出. 另外還跟上點點cajun, 辣度不會太強, 但就豐富了食味. 旁邊還有一客tater tots, 熱辣辣, 質感香脆, 送酒一流.

USDA Prime Rib Eye $358: 7分, 當然, 主角還是小吉心愛的肉眼扒, 這裡供應的是USDA Prime Rib Eye, 一客200克, 賣價只是$358, 實屬是幾抵食的. 要了medium, 肉質不會太實, 但也不算是嫩滑的程度, 火候好像是比medium稍為熟了點. 肉味方面亦只是一般, 是比期望中遜色一點. 底下的薯仔吸收了醬汁的味道, 反而是幾惹味的.

The Chop House Fajitas - A sizzler with your choice of chicken or beef sirloin $188: 8.5分, 最後一道主菜就是The Chop House Fajitas, 即是墨西哥烤肉. 有雞或牛兩款選擇, 既然吃了那麼多牛, 這次就改選雞肉吧. 雖然人不再在加州, 但對墨西哥菜, 我還是有點情意結, 這客Fajitas, 用上鐵鍋來盛載, 上檯的時候是熱度十足, 雞肉的肉質幾嫩滑, 帶輕宜的咖哩香味, 風味十足. 喜歡的話, 大家還可以點點旁邊的酪梨醬, 番茄莎莎或者酸忌廉, 配上tortilla墨西哥薄餅同吃, 自是更有墨式風情.

Hot Chocolate Brownies $68: 7.5分, 至於另外一款甜品就是Hot Chocolate Brownies, 質感是有點實, 不過朱古力味道是幾香濃的, 配上朱古力醬在面, 正好為這客甜品帶來兩個不同的層次. 旁邊還跟上一球雲尼拿雪糕, brownies配雲尼拿雪糕, 那有令人失望的可能呢.

整體來講, The Chop House還是在水準之上的, 當中的Black & Blue以及The Chop House Fajitas皆是令人滿意的, 不過USDA Prime Rib Eye就是比期望中遜色一點了. 價位方面, 埋單每人$312, 計及這裡的地段及環境, 還算是合理的, 而店員服務態度亦是不俗的.

The space is airy and bright and a lot of thoughts has been put into the design. The plush faux leather sofa is comfortable and the overhang pendent provides soft lighting.

We opted for the spinach soup and the BBQ pork burger. The soup came with a nice crockery and has generous amount of grinded spinach inside. However it is just a bit too light on the salt. The burger bun is very soft and has a nice tangy sauce that goes well with the pork.

There are four main to choose from, all of which leans towards providing a casual meal on the rush. The place is not packed yet so it is very relaxing during lunch hours. I would come back at dinner to try the pastas and steaks which perhaps will reflect better the chefs culinary skills.
