We were there last night for friends gathering. I have to give credit for they have air con (a bit stronge) and comfortable chairs with back support. Usually the Tai Pai Dong in HK is quite hot and steamy with hard plastic stool.
We ordered the famous chicken congee, it came looking somehow looking dull. We ordered a big pot for 4 people. The rice disintegrated in the congee, but the taste is pretty bland and not silky with disappointing few piece of chicken inside. Since congee is a best matched with fried noodles, we also ordered the Soy Sauce King noodles. The noodles is not thin enough to have that bouncy texture. It is supposed to be thin and crispy. So it was okay, but nothing to spill tears of joy!
However, the roasted baby pigeon was a surprise. Their little birds are small in size and have tremendous flavour. We ordered one bird for 4 person.
Fried Tofu served us quite quick. It was crunchy on the outside and soft in the inside. It is vegan and healthy.
Lastly, we also ordered the pan fried goose intestine with black beans. It was above average standard.
Overall, it was an average dinner at a average cost.
