It's always good to have someone do the planning for a change. My girlfriends picked this boutique yet beautifully decorated Italian restaurant to celebrate my birthday. The restaurant is white and blue with a lot of plants plotting around, you would feel immediately transported to Southern Italy! We started the night with really nice champagne generously offered by the restaurant, as they know we're celebrating my birthday. Don't exactly remember the name but this salmon ceviche was seasoned ju

Definitely can't leave the restaurant without their signature desserts, my favourites were the lemon cake and chestnut gelato, they actually stuff the gelato inside the frozen chestnut/fruits selected, setting a whole new bar for gelato!


We started the night with champagne (and more of course) and ended the night with a nice bottle of Reisling, completing the great night with great food, amazing hospitality and wonderful ambience.

呢間餐廳比上一手旺好多,好彩之前訂左先有位。午餐分2course or 3 course, 第三個是甜品或咖啡茶。先上sourdough 加橄欖油。麵包一般。頭盤要咗沙律,稍嫌太多麵包粒係底,多D菜好D,味道可以。同事叫嘅魚分量比較少,我就叫鴨肉pasta,D醬汁鹹咗少少,意粉都彈牙。凍latte 就一般。見到隔離枱慶祝生日有枝小煙花,幾得意。相信呢度吸引人是環境。

Crust should probably top my 2021 list for the restaurant with the most incompetent staff. Before I came, I had heard a few things about this newly opened place, but even an expectation of nothing was surpassed. Everything went wrong during our meal, from the waitresses and/ or the kitchen getting our orders mixed up with a Dining City menu, to our main course coming in before my severely delayed appetizer—and the bread coming after the main course, to the team marking my attendance as a no-show

Crust should probably top my 2021 list for the restaurant with the most incompetent staff. Before I came, I had heard a few things about this newly opened place, but even an expectation of nothing was surpassed. Everything went wrong during our meal, from the waitresses and/ or the kitchen getting our orders mixed up with a Dining City menu, to our main course coming in before my severely delayed appetizer—and the bread coming after the main course, to the team marking my attendance as a no-show (and not correcting for it after I contacted them). The list goes on, but ends with my finding that there is no hand washing soap in the bathroom (and to be offered sanitizing liquid when I asked and showed my greasy fingers waiting to be cleaned). So have the staff not been washing their hands, or have none gone to the bathroom from 8am till noon?

And I have not been to a restaurant where tables are so clustered together for at least a year and a half. I have my reservations about whether the place adheres strictly to social distancing requirements (but this is just speculation), especially as nobody checked my temperature (nor my partner’s, when he arrived 10 minutes later and waved a dozen times in front of a thermometer that was either broken or not on) nor asked me to scan a QR code or leave my details. There is a lot of staff here, and some are helpful without an attitude, but they appear haphazardly and seem to have no clue how their work fits with the rest of the team. Management is practically non-existent from the perspective of a seasoned diner. Crust is obviously not a mom-and-pop. Paying diners should not have to deal with such amateurism, regardless of how pretty they make their tiles.

As far as food is concerned, I’ll just say that nothing was remarkable on our visit, and one particular dish—a tuna carpaccio—was offensively unfresh. Obviously having come here once only limits the dishes we could try and comment on, but given the state of their management we cannot afford to waste another meal here (we didn't even have our dessert that was included in our set). So you’ll have to trust us that coming to Crust is a truly risky endeavor. I am already feeling terrible about the next person who walks in. If you’re in Wan Chai and absolutely need to eat something continental European without too much notice, there are still plenty other better options.


Food Rundown

Only a Brunch menu is available on weekends. It came down to $518+10% for us per person.

Bread with herb-infused oil
Someone just came to cut the herbs with scissors and left without an explanation about what it was for (we assumed bread) or when the bread would be ready. Well, we didn't get to try it, because by the time the bread had finally arrived we were halfway through our final course.

Tuna carpaccio
This was appallingly unfresh. I have no idea why they thought they could serve something like that. The fish itself was bitter and a bit foul.

Poached eggs, smoked salmon and avocado mash
Not a terribly Neapolitan dish. But anyway, I have no idea why they drizzle so much olive oil on avocado mash—given that avocado is pretty much fat itself. Or did the chef mean to shoot the oil over the greens and missed, because there was absolutely no seasoning on the spinach (which by the way didn’t even seem washed)? The smoked salmon was fine, but ordinary. And while I actually like bread to be dry and hard, their bread was so hard it literally broke my jaw when I was trying to chew the skin.

Italian baked Seabass in Amalfi essence (minimum 2 persons)
This was the only decent thing we had on the day. The fish was sizeable and aromatic, with the lemon and herbs working well together, but for seabass it wasn’t as moist and buttery as I had hoped. Osteria Marzia makes the exact same thing better, and we don’t have to squeeze the big plate on a table that can’t fit it. And we actually get Black Sheep hospitality there.

Rarely write on openrice. I just have to do it for this restaurant.It was a night for double birthday celebration. Remarked this at reservation. Went there 45 min early and restaurant let 4 of us in. Ordered seafood dish $988, risotto $188, Mozarella briad $188, one beer and two sparkling. Feeling hungry and wanted to order one more dish:Me: May I have the menu pls?Waitress: Menu?Me: Yes we would like to order some more.Waitress: If you are ordering more, we will move you to other table because

It was a night for double birthday celebration. Remarked this at reservation. Went there 45 min early and restaurant let 4 of us in. Ordered seafood dish $988, risotto $188, Mozarella briad $188, one beer and two sparkling. Feeling hungry and wanted to order one more dish:

Me: May I have the menu pls?
Waitress: Menu?
Me: Yes we would like to order some more.
Waitress: If you are ordering more, we will move you to other table because 11 ppl are coming in.  We need to line up these tables.
Me: This is not making any sense.
(waving to manager)
Me: Do u know she asked me to move when I tried to order more?I had been here for just an hour
Manager: yes i m sorry but we will move you to a very comfortable sofa seat at corner.
Me: Is this a fast food shop?I had been here for just an hour!Can you do better?
Manager: Pls accept my apology. We compensate you with dessert.
Me: I am disappointed and do not accept this. ( dun think having dessert will light up my mood, i dun have a sweet tooth)

I just left asap. I mean all they want is overbook and push customers away. This restaurant don't care what you think.
题外话/补充资料: Starter plate arrangement is absolutely everywhere. Second and third dish serving slow....resulting luke warm food..

First of all, the restaurant informed us that they could not give us the table at last minute (midnight before our lunch). We then requested them to book for the next day instead and they did mention to make it extra special . Well, they should let the guest know much earlier.Then for the appetiser, the Parma ham is aromatic and the melon is thinly sliced as well which is interesting.For the bruschetta, the marinate is fine with no fishy taste. For the pasta, it tastes nice. I like the cheese on

For the bruschetta, the marinate is fine with no fishy taste.

For the pasta, it tastes nice. I like the cheese on top which provides additional flavour.

For the steak, it is cooked to perfection (medium well), it contains some fat, but it’s not an issue.

For the dessert, we chose one dessert from the counter (mille-feuille: the puff is crispy and the cream is good) and dessert platter (2 cakes chosen by the staff: babà-misu which is a combination of babà & tiramisu, I didn’t find any alcohol inside but there is a hint of coffee, it is creative; the cake with a fish chocolate whereas is just so so, nothing special and not impressive). I would suggest future diner to choose by oneself instead.

When we asked the staff for the special treatment (see 1st para), they offered us to choose from Prosecco and Limoncello. The limoncello is serve cold which is refreshing. It is of high alcohol concentration that we couldn’t finish it.

In general, the meal is satisfying. The restaurant is located in a historical building and the decoration make you feel that u are in Italy. I would highly recommend this place! Grazie ;p

Best Aperitivo Hour! Starts at 5:45pm daily!Cocktails are about $100/glass.I had a whiskey sour, tastes very nice!! It’s sweet, it’s sour, and it’s strong! All I wanted in a cocktail.Look at their snacks table, so many choices and all made with so much effort! Not just a cheeseboard, bread.You can sample some special Italian appetizers.That chorizo/salami is the best, with a spicy kick! Really like the best range of food u can choose from! They also have the pizza bread, smoked salmon croissant

Walked by the restaurant a few times and finally decided to try. Ordered two appetizers and two mains, none of them were up to expectations. Only the mozzarella, tomatoes & ham plate is ok. Mussels are not fresh at all, pasta is salty and very hard to chew. Fish is also so so and we didn’t even want to try the dessert anymore. Not worth the money at all.

焦糖洋蔥我覺得可以再烹得焦香些,豬腩肉做到了香脆的口感,而炒蛋亦滑溜富蛋香,加上新鮮的BB菠菜總比我那份蝦好吃得多。

餐後甜點可以自行走到甜品櫃選擇,由車爸爸發板選了檸檬蛋糕和紅桑子撻,而且更為我送上生日這驚喜呢!花火維持時間不長想影片或相也要捉緊機會喔!

檸檬蛋糕外皮對我來說太甜內裡則酸香可口挺合我意,至於紅桑子撻則慘不忍睹,撻底死實到用叉也弄不開,除了生果新鮮外基本說不上不值一提!!

When we arrived promptly for our reservation at 1:30pm, we were informed that our table wasn't ready yet, so we had to wait at the pastry area. The restaurant was very busy! We weren't told how long we would have to wait for, and I was starting to feel a little stressed since this was a birthday celebration and I wanted things to go smoothly.

While waiting, a very kind staff member offered us a glass of prosecco on the house as an apology for keeping us waiting. That lifted our spirits right away
Soon after, our table was ready. We only had to wait 10 min, not too bad!

Their dining time restriction is a little confusing. When I made the booking online, I saw that the time restriction for lunch was 75 min. However, in the SMS reminder, it said the time restriction was 90 min. We later learned that many customers overstayed their time limit, which is why our table wasn't ready. To be fair, we ended up staying for longer than 90 min as well, but the restaurant was pretty much empty by the time we got to dessert, and the staff did tell us it was okay to stay as long as we want


The decor in the main dining area is beautiful, and we loved the high ceilings.  The bathroom is very nice too!

On weekends they only serve their brunch menu ($358 + 10%, with free flow options at an additional cost), which changes weekly, according to the staff. Therefore, I didn't bother taking a photo of the menu.

Lots of choices for starters and mains. Rather generous portions too! This was a nice surprise, since restaurants at this price range usually lean towards the 'fancy but skimpy portions' route. We were stuffed by the end of the meal!

Very limited vegetarian options - only one veg starter and one veg main available. Doesn't help that you can't order a la carte either.

Food took a while to arrive and was kind of a mixed bag. Some dishes were definitely better than others. Overall, we found the starters and desserts to be better than the mains. Speaking of dessert, it was quite fun getting to choose our own dessert at the pastry section - I felt like a kid at a candy store! So many tasty options! For birthday celebrations, they can write 'Happy Birthday' on the dessert plate and add a big sparkler candle as well


Service was excellent throughout!

Would I come back? Maybe! Probably won't do their weekend brunch again though.

週末跟好姐妹3人聚餐,今次揀左係灣仔修頓球場對面呢座保育建築嘅地下新開嘅餐廳嘆意大利菜,佢哋週末嘅中午應該只提供weekend set lunch,每位好似$385🤔(唔記得左🤣)包左appetizer, main course,甜品同tea/ coffee,由於我地幾個睇左餐牌好一陣子都冇idea,最後直接叫待應介紹~坦白講,3個前菜入面最好味係吞拿魚他他,另外兩個就基本野,煙肉滑蛋多士同mozzarella蕃茄仔沙律,不過佢地嘅portion都算幾大,我地三個女仔食完前菜都有啲飽飽地😆到主菜出場,我地揀左seabass同海鮮意大利麵,由於份魚係兩人份量,所以主菜只有兩樣,但一上菜嘅時候真係嚇左一跳,我哋三個完全冇諗過條魚係成條上!仲要好大條🤭條魚應該係用焗爐焗嘅,肉質都算嫩滑,幾新鮮,伴碟配菜有細細粒嘅薯仔、蕃茄仔同西蘭花苗?我哋幾個真係睇見都已經飽咗😆到最後埋單睇到個總數之後,我諗佢應該係將條魚嘅份量加到三人份量,食嗰陣都覺得奇怪冇理由二人份量會咁多🙈至於個海鮮意大利麵,正👍🏼佢哋嘅麵條應該係手工制,食落口感煙韌,醬汁似係用新鮮嘅蕃茄蓉去燴,唔似係茄膏嗰種,海鮮包括有大蝦、青口、
