和友人閒逛到差不多四點才吃午飯,想找一家少人的餐廳,誰料由中環走到上環,每家 cafe / 餐廳人也多到不得了,難得 the press room 這裏還有空桌,於是也沒多想的便走了走來。餐廳的客人比想像中要少得多,所以音樂相比起來就吵了些。不過坐在露台邊的位置,也是坐得舒適。吃飯的時間有點尷尬,所以也就要了兩份 brunch 和友人分著吃。這個 french toast with bacon, banana and maple syrup 是我選的,厚厚的多士用蛋和牛油煎香,上面鋪著開邊的香蕉,還有數片煎得焦脆的煙肉片,加上碟邊下了一大堆 maple syrup,加起來是沒可能不好吃的組合!切開多士,只覺外脆內軟,跟 maple syrup 和香蕉的質感很相配,吃下去只覺得非常滿足;bacon 是有趣的配搭,令 french toast 的味道沒太單調,而且也很喜歡 bacon & maple syrup 一鹹一甜的組合呀。友人要了 the press room breakfast,簡單點來說就是傳統的 english breakfast 啦,分吃了一半,最有印象的是 homemad

吃飯的時間有點尷尬,所以也就要了兩份 brunch 和友人分著吃。這個 french toast with bacon, banana and maple syrup 是我選的,厚厚的多士用蛋和牛油煎香,上面鋪著開邊的香蕉,還有數片煎得焦脆的煙肉片,加上碟邊下了一大堆 maple syrup,加起來是沒可能不好吃的組合!切開多士,只覺外脆內軟,跟 maple syrup 和香蕉的質感很相配,吃下去只覺得非常滿足;bacon 是有趣的配搭,令 french toast 的味道沒太單調,而且也很喜歡 bacon & maple syrup 一鹹一甜的組合呀。

友人要了 the press room breakfast,簡單點來說就是傳統的 english breakfast 啦,分吃了一半,最有印象的是 homemade baked beans,用的不是罐頭貨,而是下了好些 peppers 來煮,所以入口就有陣青椒的甘味;另外的食材味道都不錯,但都是那種想像得來的味道,炒蛋弄得嫩滑有蛋香,在水準以上;hash brown 友人說用的也是好貨色,吃起來口感帶點煙韌,反倒是 blood sausage 味道不太濃,入口軟糯感覺就有點曖昧。

另外還要了杯不錯喝的咖啡,在這裏消磨了一個多小時,聊得相當愉快呀。服務方面,經理那種「明明識講中文但又要同我地講英文」的態度有點讓人感冒,不過另一位侍應的服務仔細又周到,拉回不少分數啦。買單 $290,下次可以試試晚餐!

Had a romantic dinner with the boyfriend so decided to make a reservation. Upon arrival, the table was ready and the back end of the restaurant was buzzing. We used one of their promotional coupons so we whipped that out as soon as we were seated. The friendly waitress informed us of the terms and conditions to which we were happy with. Decided to order the Fruit de Mer excluding the lobster, a shrimp and chorizo linguini, fish of the day (sea bass) and a bottle of white wine.

The bread and wine arrived first, the bread very soft and warm. The wine was lacking in taste but that was down to our own choosing- Tourain, Sauvignon Blanc (2011)

The seafood platter included some delicious oysters but that was the extent. Everything else was either tasteless or too salty.

The linguini and fish arrived together once our table was cleared and hands down- the seabass was nothing if not divine. Cooked to perfection, crispy skin, juicy flesh and wonderfully fresh. The linguini al dente, the shrimp slightly overcooked but overall not bad.

For dessert we ordered the tarte tatin, and the mascarpone (because we're greedy.)

With a 30min waiting time i usually dont bother, but oh wow was it worth the wait! The crispy, chewy pastry wrapping the sweet and tender pieces of pear went down famously with the whole cream that accompanied it. Already very full, we did not have trouble finishing that.

Overall, a satisfactory meal but given we had a hefty discount, the price we actually paid was the maximum I would have been willing to pay. A great atmosphere, staff and good food but I would not say I'd willingly pay full price there next time.

It was a Friday night, restaurant was not overly packed, but had quite a decent turnout. As the title suggests, this place seems to have a bit of an identity crisis. A lot of french dishes on the menu but the decor was quitensentially not. Further other dishes on the menu had a cross over with a bar and grill style menu. Ambiance

A lot of money has been spent on the decor and creating the ambiance. I guess it is part of the appeal and what I assume the restaurants warrants as justification for the prices it charges.

Food

We ordered Rabbit, Veal and the Tartare. Food was nice but when compared to the price, was actually just average. No complaints really, except on price. I am a strong believer of price point, if you put yourself out there in a price bracket to compete with others then there must be something justifiably good.

Wine

A decent selection of wine by the glass which is always appreciated for smaller dining parties. There was a bit of a premium but that is quite normal. Unfortunately given the selection, the actual wines we chose were not the best.

Service

Quite a few staff at this restaurant which made for speedy service. It was of good quality and people were very well mannered. The food came out fast and at no point were they rude (a rarity it seems in hk). The service definitely is fit for what this restaurant is trying to achieve.

Bottom line: A confused little restaurant where the theme is not consistent and does not justify price. Otherwise not too bad at all.

前一年在openrice看到很多食家在Restaurant Week到處搵食,心裡感到十分羨慕。所以今年一早就Subscribe 了Restaurant Week的網站,並憑American Express優先訂座,其中一間就是The Press Room。它的Lunch Menu是Three-course的午餐,包括前菜、主菜及甜品。首先送上的是麵包,款式是鄉村麵包,外面好像法包一樣有硬皮,內裡鬆軟,不會太過濕潤。雖然不是烘過才上,但仍然無減它的美味。可惜未知是否因為尋於麵包的不同部份,左邊的明顯較右邊的美味,如質素能更平均則更好!前菜有三種選擇,但因為我和熊先生都酷愛帶子和海膽的關係,所以點了同一款。Scallop and Sea Urchin with aubergine caviar帶子鮮甜,配上底下的茄子蓉吃,十分相配。但海膽的味道卻格格不入,明顯只是小小一片作裝飾。魚子是像粉狀的,因為份量較少,很難嚐到魚子平常的鮮美。至於主菜,我們決定share,點了一份肉,一份海鮮。上圖的是Char-grilled Wagyu Minute Steak red wine shallot

首先送上的是麵包,款式是鄉村麵包,外面好像法包一樣有硬皮,內裡鬆軟,不會太過濕潤。雖然不是烘過才上,但仍然無減它的美味。

前菜有三種選擇,但因為我和熊先生都酷愛帶子和海膽的關係,所以點了同一款。
Scallop and Sea Urchin with aubergine caviar
帶子鮮甜,配上底下的茄子蓉吃,十分相配。但海膽的味道卻格格不入,明顯只是小小一片作裝飾。魚子是像粉狀的,因為份量較少,很難嚐到魚子平常的鮮美。

至於主菜,我們決定share,點了一份肉,一份海鮮。
上圖的是Char-grilled Wagyu Minute Steak red wine shallot jus and pommes frites
Minute Steak 就好像它的名字一樣,只需一分鐘(很短時間)便煮好,所以Minute Steak都是意指很薄的牛扒。
是次的牛扒雖然薄,但切開仍看到內裡是嫩嫩的粉紅色,而且十分柔軟,入口香濃,帶有一陣燒烤(Grill)的味道。
而薯條則是熊先生最愛的幼切版本,新鮮炸起,香脆入口亦不會滿口油,值得一讚。

另一道主菜是Steamed Clams Provençal with salmon loin and argula
這道菜的醬汁是濃的蕃茄醬,Clams顯然有一陣白酒味。但始終不太喜歡以蕃茄醬煮的海鮮,所以不特別喜歡這一道主菜。
三文魚扒不會煎得太乾,但問題出現在配搭上,Clams 和 Salmon 看來不是好朋友。

甜品有Dessert of the Day。賣相精美,Cream有Vanilla的味道,加上頂層的脆脆杏仁片,入口有多種滋味。

另外一個甜品是 Gateau aux Carottes cream cheese frosting
長長的名字其實是代表Carrot Cake。雖然Carrot Cake是一款很容易做的甜品,但The Press Room 仍處理得不錯。但上面的Cream Cheese Frosting則有點過多。旁邊的果汁亦不太對胃口。

最後再加點一杯Cappuccino 作結。泡沫打得細滑,為這個Restaurant Week的第一個巡禮畫上一個完美的句點。

這個Three Course Lunch價值HK$158,以The Press Room的招牌加上穩定的質素,為我們帶來了一個好印象。

press room 已经在我wishlist很久,之前只过来吃过简餐,这次过来午餐总体印象很好,符合期望。很喜欢他家的环境,楼底很高(不象大多数香港餐厅很压抑),欧式风格很轻松休闲。服务员态度非常亲切热情,心情也变得很好。头盘是带子刺生色拉:虽然分量比较迷你,但是带子很新鲜,而且配的调料很轻盈。主菜挑了煮海鲜:三文鱼和蚬都很新鲜配上浓郁的茄汁口味的调料味道丰富。 朋友的和牛虽然是薄切,不过真的很嫩。甜品:我们各要了一款share: 胡萝卜蛋糕口味比较特别但是非常清新,蛋糕也很松, 香蕉布丁的香蕉味超浓,不过布丁质地还湿,不够弹性,口感过于湿和烂。以后还会来试她家的brunch

cut down to the chase..orderedonion soup 5.5/10 cheese wasn't baked for long enough for that slight brown baked texture. Not enough flavor in the soup. clam in white wine 7/10 clams were definately fresh and not even sandy at all! Sauce went really well flavourable enough not to cover the freshness of the clam.lobster rissoto 6.5/10 Generous amount of lobster given. Not too saucy but it was a little bit too salty and the rice weren't cooked well enough as it was a bit hard. Diver scallops 7.5/10

Diver scallops 7.5/10 Scallops were surprisingly fresh and cooked perfectly. Not too heavy of a dish as there were enough salad to go along with the scallops. Sauce did not cover the freshness of the scallops.

Prime steak frites 4.5/10 The fries were no doubt good but the prime steak quality wasn't that great as it was too "chewy" enough tho i specified "medium rare"

Overall, the ambience and service is good but the food were not up to my standard for the price. In conclusion I would go again during lunch to try their other dishes .

美國的新鮮生蠔,用义輕拈其裙邊已見即時收縮,新鮮程度滿意,海水味不算濃,肉質creamy,加一點檸檬汁,來得清新
青口也很鮮美,入口清新
大大隻的翡翠螺,肉質十分爽口,多款海鮮中,這款是最滿意的
龍蝦仔霸氣十足,雖然蝦肉不多,勝在貴精不貴多,肉質鮮甜
另一欣賞的是salmon ceviche,三文魚新鮮肥美,魚油豐潤,令人醒胃

吃過海鮮冷盤,來喝一碗熱湯暖暖肚
餐廳就特別泡製了這碗野菌湯配黑松露
侍者遠遠送來時已聞到陣陣黑松露的芳香
湯頭十分濃稠,口感甚豐富,野菌味也來得濃烈
也可加一點胡椒,增加味道層次

盲鰽配以千層麵,盲鰽魚皮煎得香脆惹味,魚肉卻仍然保持幼嫩鮮美,大廚烹調水準到家
魚味香濃,更配以特製的龍蝦汁,帶出其鮮
千層麵入口富質感,也挺有煙韌感覺,配以各式蔬菜,整道菜就是清新到底

牛味尤其香濃,配一點燒汁,十分不錯

來到此時,我們已飽得不行了,但仍有甜品拼盤等着我們呢
甜品拼盤包括紅莓雪糕,朱古力心太軟,干邑麵包布甸和banana bavarois
各樣都做得小巧精緻,其中最欣賞紅莓雪糕和banana bavarois
紅莓雪糕質感十分幼滑,酸酸甜甜的
中間還吃到粒粒紅莓粒,甚有口感的
而banana bavarois這傳統法式甜品,質感就是介乎布甸和慕絲之間
中間散發着芳香的香蕉味,十分誘人
朱古力心太軟可可味香濃,麵包布甸也帶點酒香

無論是食物質素或是份量,也是十分滿足的一頓情人節晚餐
因為這個套餐只在情人節當日供應,聽說供應有點緊張,有興趣的朋友,也要趕快行動喇!

壽星女揀左The Press Room食生日飯。我地由皇后大道中行上山的荷李活道,去到間餐廳好似唔夠冷氣咁,好焗,搞到我地身水身汗, 所以一坐低就叫啲凍嘢飲。兩個人飲唔得好多酒,於是叫咗wine list上唯一可以order half bottle的champagne share,飲落okay清香,不是太甜,幾好幾好。兩個女仔share左prime steak frites,tuna tartare同埋chocolate mousse trio,另外叫個mixed green salad當side dish。個tuna tartare就是一個好正常的tartare,無咩特別印象。 我地叫個prime steak要medium cooked,亦做出應有的水準,啲frites新鮮炸好當然好食,不過我中意粗身啲薯條,而哩度嘅就好似M記薯條咁 最特別系個只黃黃地色好似mayonnaise的dipping,唔知有咩成份呢,好滑好creamy重牛油香 咁個mixed green salad材料夠新鮮就點都好食嘅。個chocolate mousse trio有白朱古力mousse,黑朱古力mouss

二零一三年的第二天,仍然不用上班,決定和太座吃頓豐富的新年午餐。為方便起見,地點揀了中上環區,結果選定了這間 The Press Room 作為這天午餐的目的地。踏足這間集酒吧與餐廳於一身的 The Press Room ,問過不懂廣東話的外籍女侍應後,得知這星期仍是聖誕新年期間,所以餐廳內沒有 Set Lunch 供應。雖然是有點意外,不過這樣也好,可以讓我倆從餐牌中揀選大家都有興趣吃的菜式。左看右看之後,我終於決定來一個簡單又豐富的魚蝦蟹午餐。而這三款魚蝦蟹,所指的「魚」,是 Salmon & Cod Cake,「蝦」,是 Lobster Risotto,而「蟹」呢?則是 Louisiana Chili Crab Cakes。先上麵包,這兒的麵包是外脆內軟的法包,不太熱,但也不算冷的法包水準不算很好,也不算差,中規中矩是它最合理的評價。兩款「餅食」中,以魚餅較為好吃,外面煎得香脆,裡層可以吃出鮮明的三文魚和鱈魚味,大大件的「三文魚鱈魚餅」,足夠兩人分吃。至於另一款 Starter「路易斯安納州辣蟹餅」,外面同樣煎得香脆,內裡的蟹肉味道則有點過濃,吃來味道偏鹹,沒有「三文魚鱈魚餅」的

至於另一款 Starter路易斯安納州辣蟹餅」,外面同樣煎得香脆,內裡的蟹肉味道則有點過濃,吃來味道偏鹹,沒有「三文魚鱈魚餅」的味道來得那麼討好。

吃過兩款 Starter 前菜後,這天的主角 Lobster Risotto 緊接登場。叫來整份的 Lobster Risotto,賣相吸引,已開邊,呈亮麗橙紅色的波士頓龍蝦頭早已放在碟上
,伴隨著以濃稠龍蝦汁上碟的意大利飯。但不知何故,這「龍蝦意大利飯」上沒有了那兩隻波士頓龍蝦最突出的大蝦螯,實在奇怪
。也許那些螯中的龍蝦肉已與龍蝦身上的龍蝦肉一起被拆肉混和在意大利飯中吧!否則的話,不管是廚師有意或無心漏了把兩隻大大的龍蝦螯放進飯中,這 Lobster Risotto 便肯定大打折扣,不值二百多元了。

說回味道,夾雜著龍蝦肉的意大利飯口感較為硬身,也頗有嚼勁,以偏濃稠的龍蝦汁調味之後,味道尚佳

是日跟好友慶祝生日,來到the press room. 平日七時半到達,有訂枱故可立即進場.但眼見只有半full house, 故walk-in也問題不大.場內環境非常昏暗,但樓底很高,沒有侷促感,感覺classy 又雅致. 臨近christmas, 平時的daily 2 course dinner menu暫停供應,只好散叫.點選了Onion soup (HK$85), Darne Salmon(HK$223), Lobster risotto (large) (HK$206), Trio of Chocolate mousse (HK$80).免費的麵包,是法包來的.外層有點硬脆,但內裏卻很軟熟.配上牛油, 很好吃.是少數不呈熱的麵包卻得筆者歡心.先來Onion soup,未吃已聞到香濃的芝士味,很香呢!面層厚厚的芝士,真的很rich 很好吃,很impressive!湯內的材料有洋蔥和麵包,全都煮成很淋,感覺豐富.但湯的味道真的很濃,愈喝愈鹹,看來只可淺嚐.之後送上Darne Salmon,賣相不錯,試一口,三文魚肉非常鮮嫩香滑,魚皮也煎得甘香,那魚皮上點點的魚油,真的令人回味.配

臨近christmas, 平時的daily 2 course dinner menu暫停供應,只好散叫.點選了Onion soup (HK$85), Darne Salmon(HK$223), Lobster risotto (large) (HK$206), Trio of Chocolate mousse (HK$80).

免費的麵包,是法包來的.外層有點硬脆,但內裏卻很軟熟.配上牛油, 很好吃.是少數不呈熱的麵包卻得筆者歡心.

先來Onion soup,未吃已聞到香濃的芝士味,很香呢!面層厚厚的芝士,真的很rich 很好吃,很impressive!湯內的材料有洋蔥和麵包,全都煮成很淋,感覺豐富.但湯的味道真的很濃,愈喝愈鹹,看來只可淺嚐.

之後送上Darne Salmon,賣相不錯,試一口,三文魚肉非常鮮嫩香滑,魚皮也煎得甘香,那魚皮上點點的魚油,真的令人回味.配上的hollandaise sauce, 也大致配合.反而配上的蘆筍過鹹也過淋了.

再來的Lobster risotto, 先試意大利米的口感,應是正宗的,其質感非常硬身,很有咬口.碟上也有些龍蝦肉,味道普通,沒有特別的鮮甜味.意大利米配上龍蝦汁,也稍為鹹了一點,整體感覺很一般.

至於甜品Trio of Chocolate mousse,是分別為white choco, milk choco和dark choco三瓶的甜品, 不只味道不同,連口感也是不同的.先試white choco,是令筆者最難忘的甜品質感.香濃的白朱古力,老實說,是有點過甜.但喜歡它,是因為其質感難以形容,像飄雪的雪花,帶點空氣,入口即溶,很有趣.

white choco, 是昔日milka 品牌的味道,只愛黑朱古力的筆者也只會說它過甜了,但其質感則呈奶昔狀.

至於dark choco, 是三瓶中味道最佳,香濃的dark choco味,質感是幼滑的mousse.吃完這個三重奏,才感受到甜品除了是可口與否,也可以是有趣與否.

Upon arrival my booking was dealt with by the hostesses efficiently and we were seated by the window. The place was in full swing with every table taken, the atmosphere vibrant and buzzing.

Our drinks were delivered at the perfect temperature- my bloody mary was super spicy, just as I asked.

The food was fair, wonderful portion sizes for the price. I had the lobster benedict- unusual but worked a treat, my friend opted for the burger and was equally happy.

Service was top notch considering it was so busy. All staff looked happy, relaxed and in control. You cannot say that for many restaurants in HK!

The manageress was also interacting with tables and I heard a pleasent conversation with the table next to us.

All in all for such a busy restaurant we couldn't fault anything so will of course return. Brunch is a must!!

I went to The Press Room because I had heard their 2 course set dinner was good. 280 for 2 courses is a pretty good deal so I was anxious to check it out. The ambiance of the place is really lovely. It's a beautiful restaurant- the food is only ok. I ordered the caeser salad and darn of salmon. The caesar was a bit bland and needed seasoning. I did like it had fresh anchovies on it though instead of canned. The salmon was cooked well but full of pin bones. No body likes it when you cut the insid

I did like it had fresh anchovies on it though instead of canned. The salmon was cooked well but full of pin bones. No body likes it when you cut the inside of your mouth with bones. When I asked about it- they said they only de-bone fish upon request of customers... Say, what? Butter sauce was flavorless. I found myself yet again reaching for the salt shaker.

The chocolate mousse trio and coffee were the best part of the evening. The white chocolate one is pretty much flavorless but the dark chocolate one is really quite good. Portion sizes are large and you get good value for your money. I'd rather have small portions though and bigger flavors.

Service is slow as I had to flag down wait staff on several occasions. They seemed to love huddling up by the cashier station chatting rather than checking on customers.

The Press Room龍蝦牛油果三文治是我和友人Gallery hopping的late lunch選擇之一!如果那次Gallery hopping的行程能夠包含The Press Room總加添我的期待指數!坦白說,The Press Room交通不是太方便,既非靠近地鐵沿線,泊車也不太易,!但那裡的龍蝦牛油果三文治真的好好吃!

那兩片包非常香脆,配上moist度適中的Lobster and Avocado, 咬下去的口感,讓你覺得這是非常棒的三文治!說實的,那香脆的麵包隔一天再用烤爐烤熱也是非常香脆卻又不會乾乾的!因為我從未試過在吃掉整個龍蝦牛油果三文治,主因是他們的Chips實在太好吃!炸得不油不膩,對一個的高度只有151 cm的亞洲女性來講,這分量的三文治加chips是蠻大的!但當我外帶剩下那一半龍蝦牛油果三文治,隔天再吃,兩片包還能保持香脆,這個索價百多元的三文治,還是讓我欲罷不能!

我和食友都是南瓜和意大利飯控,如果不是這裡Restaurant week的menu裡有roasted pumpkin risotto,也未必會這麼堅定不移的來吃,期望一沉就容易落空,還好,還有意料之外的美味等著我倆。餐包外皮酥脆,內裡則帶點韌勁很有嚼頭,搽牛油或者蘸意大利黑醋都很好吃紅菜頭薄片切得很有水平,質地薄身而滑溜,配上香脆而有點油脂的山核桃,以及綿軟帶點羶香的羊奶芝士,是很奇妙的搭配食友的炸三文魚餅則更誘人一些,酥脆的外皮裹著紮實飽滿的三文魚肉,切開後熱力十足,又保留了三文魚肉的嫩滑,肉質不會很鞋,搭配上濃膩微酸的塔塔醬更香口主菜之一的龍利魚柳從款式來看平凡的很,但處理得不錯,魚肉外層微微煎過,內裡則十分嫩滑,配上炸得焦脆香口的菠菜葉,吃起來還蠻開胃的烤南瓜意大利飯就令人有點失望了,問題出在汁幾乎是純純的南瓜所製,缺少芝士的香味,飯粒也煮得有點過生,嚼起來都有點費勁;至於松露的味道更是微不足道,僅有的一小片好像還被我很不客氣的給吃了,更悲催的是我還沒意識到自己吃到了…跟餐的甜品自然是迷你一些,不過味道還不錯,brownie朱古力濃度適中,甜得來又不至於很膩,沒有太多牛油的潤飾,

還好最後經理得知我倆的『囧況』後幫我們免了兩杯飲品的價錢,一方面呢,大概是侍應很自然的問我們要什麼餐後飲品有一點誤導性(相信她也不是故意的,可能平時的sets都有跟飲品的,而Rest. wk無),不過更重要的一點,也是今後要留意的,還是自己得看清餐牌的內容才妥。

印像中這裡的龍蝦意大利飯好像不錯,還有單是看相都會流口水的梨子撻…有機會的話還會再重訪的,不過呢,還是先把荷包餵飽一點再說吧!
