所以有celebration可以考慮下

但個人覺得
整餐唔可以話唔好食
不過如果我再想食印度野會揀番d地道style d
同埋全部食物我都覺得偏咸
比較適合重口味人士
但飲cocktail happyhour是ok的

I would regard this as one of the few fine Indian foods in Hong Kong, along with Punjab Club. I personally like this restaurant a bit better as the food here are more well presented and I'd say probably more sophisticated. Also I think the way Chaiwala has presented their tasting menu is also quite Interesting.  I ordered their tasting menu which I thought was reasonably priced and it did give a quite well rounded presentation on the concept of their food. Entrance of the restaurant. Decoration

Finally they offered some chai tea after the meal which was delicious. I find this to be my favorite Indian restaurant in the city. Indian food in Hong Kong has always given me the feeling that it's too casual and not sophisticated enough, I think Chaiwala changed my view on that. What I like about the place is that it's not overly westernized (usually when that happens you lose the authenticity of the original cuisine and its elements). 

The tasting menu offers generous portions and I would say you will be quite full after finishing the whole menu. I thought it was a very enjoyable experience and I would definitely come again and would recommend it to friends who are looking for Indian food with a nice environment.

Really enjoy the place, one of the few of its kind with an open kitchen, was chatting with the pastry chefs while they were working, really friendly. Food is quite nice; I believe its one of the only places on HK island with their own tandor. Its spacious and the staff is outstanding.

本想訂同一條街另一間印度餐館。但誤訂了chaiwala 但錯有錯著。享受了一頓喜出望外的晚餐服務員提供適時的服務 用餐時没有多餘或過多的關注 當我們很在意印度菜很重味道及油膩。chaiwala 提供的菜式也相對輕宜已嘗菜式- Bhelpui (推薦- 清新沙律 作前菜很開胃)- Bala’s Madras Vada - Paneer Lasagna Makhni-classic chicken tandoor - naan - coconut and saffron (這個naan 充滿了椰子蓉。味道十足非常飽肚 )

We got a tasting course for dinner.There were 8 dishes including 3 starters, 1 main(tanduri chickens, lamb, salmon) and 1 meal (butter chicken curry with rice, truffle nan and some vegetables) and dessert & chai tea!It was really nice and i think it's reasonable compared to each dishe's price.I recommend the tasting course if someone want to try the representitive menus.

I have a monthly dinner date thing with my cousin, in which we do a bit of food hunting to try out new (and hopefully good) restaurants, while catching up with each other, even though we text every day. This time, we decided to try out Chaiwala, after so many expat colleagues of mine have spoken so highly of it and introduced it to me. We really love the vibrant ambiance of the restaurant and bar. We were led pass Hugger Mugger, which is the bar area, and then into Chaiwala, the restaurant. I was definitely amazed by the Indian style interior design and decoration! The sacred elephants, the lights, etc. I wish I could have more time to adore them but the restaurant was too busy…

We were seated in the inner most part of the restaurant, which is quite dark and noisy. I would definitely love to take a seat in the middle area, where you can see the chef cook.

I adore the menu sincerely! A crash course on Indian food with this Chaiwala Glossary. Definitely very useful for first timer, or someone like me who have tried Indian food before but don’t really know much about it except naan bread, samosas, dosa, curry and chicken tandoori.

We were treated with a complimentary pompadous, something we could nibble on while waiting for our order to be prepared. The peppery pompadous was so crispy, and the sauce was so so delicious! We couldn’t actually stop eating it!
Cheese Chaska

Food was served when we were half way through the pompadous, and all 3 dishes were served at once, which was out of our expectation. We thought it would take quite some time. And, we struggled for a bit to shift our attention from the pompadous to this Cheese Chaska, which is a vegetarian friendly gluten-free dish. Listed as chef’s favourite snack on the menu, this Cheese Chaska are actually amul cheese spiced and deep fried in balls. We did know why the chef like it so much! We do too! The fried balls were so crunchy! And the content inside was so cheesy! Make sure you dip the balls to the ketchup and other sauce to eat.

Another small plate we ordered is this vegetarian friendly Suez Patlu Samosa. It was simply so yummy that we actually closed our eyes to savor it! Make sure you try the minty sauce and the pomegranate with the samosa! They are very refreshing! The sweet lotus stem crisps were very nice too! I wish there were more of those…

The Classic Chicken Tikka blew our mind with its delicious hung yogurt with cucumber raita. I fell in love with the cucumber raita immediately as it was so refreshing, and it made a perfect dip for the chicken tandoori. The chicken itself was fantastic! It was so tender and rightly flavoured with chilli, cinnamon and mint chutney. We were told that Chaiwala made their tandoori every day with two massive stoves. I wonder if the stove picture on the menu is a photo of the one they use?

We were already planning to visit again to try out their tasting menu, so that we could have a bit of everything! You can’t have too much great food right?

Chaiwala has taken a hefty leaf from the rulebook of its sister restaurant, TokyoLima. Now, I wasn’t a fan of TokyoLima (after multiple trips I’m still not) but I admire its ambition. High concept, bold flavours and modern service. But, where TokyoLima fails to marry ambition with execution, Chaiwala does so with style and panache. 

 

I’ve been to Chaiwala twice now (a new addition to my family put paid to any new reviews in the latter half of last year) and enjoyed excellent service and scrumptious fare from the set menu on both occasions. What follows is a summary of the best bits. 

 

I started with my guilty pleasure, a pina colada. This was no normal pina colada; this was a Punjab Cadillac Colada; it had saffron aromatized Diplomatico Planas (nope, I’ve no idea either) and was served in vase. I liked it. 



 

A procession of small plates began to arrive. I couldn’t really fault any of them. 

 

The Pana Puri – crispy bird’s nest potato structures containing very nice vegetable bits and bobs – were a relatively new one for me. We were instructed to pour in some tangy cumin water and eat them in one go. Given they were slightly too large for a single mouthful, I was left like the hapless Pulp Fiction Gimp. 

 

We also received a beautiful sloppy mess of an aloo tikka chaat. A bowl of seared prawns with an intoxicating Northern Indian fragrance of raw curry leaves, mustard seeds and fresh green chilli. And, some buttery roti (for reasons unknown labelled mexi-tali on the menu) covered in unidentifiable, yet delicious curried slop. 

 

By this point – on both occasions – we were pretty much full. And so, the mains duly arrived. 

 

A majestic lobster splayed at the torso, spilled with flesh rendered golden by a mild, sweet, tangy sauce. It was served with fluffy rice and crunchy fresh green vegetables. It was a decadent but well judged triumph. 

 

The lobster was delightful but sometimes the lavish choice of ingredients went too far. In an unnecessary nod to the crudely extravagant palette’s of our city’ populous, black truffle was liberally shaved on perfectly good naan bread. And, Wagyu beef – famed for its flavoursome marbling and delicate texture –is ground-up, laden with spice and grilled to grey as a kebab. 

 

With the possible exception of the lamb shank (more Cathay business class than haute Indian), the curries were delectable. And charred salmon was plump, juicy and flavoursome. 

 

With overlooking locations, imported London chefs and raj-era appendage, comparisons between Black Sheep Group’s New Punjab Club and Chaiwala are unavoidable. Despite Punjab Club being recently minted with a Michelin Star (honestly, how much crack were the Inspectors smoking that day) Chaiwala is, quite frankly, a much better experience. This is no more evident than with desserts. 

 

If you are still hungry after the starters and mains (you won't be) there’s a small but perfectly formed selection of desserts. We received a house brick-portioned, albeit-cloud light spiced carrot cake, served with a heady kick of run and raisin ice cream.

Palak Patta, Shakarkandi Chaat – A take on Indian street food with spinach leaves coated in a chickpea flour batter, fried along with sweet potato crisps, spiced yoghurt dressing & house chutneys. Cheese Chaska was ordered by the husband. I would never order these things anymore because for some reason, I find them too last decade or antiquated. These were to be Amul cheese spiced & deep fried in balls, but they tasted more paneer than cheese to me. The presentation was very fine-dine style, with sauces, chutney mayo, lining the dish and these fried balls sitting atop.

Had my birthday dinner there, love this place! Food was great, cocktails were pretty special and tasty, service was amazing! They don’t put service charge on their bill, but the service and everything is so good, you will be willing to pay more than 10%! Definitely recommend and definitely going back!

位於中環,第一次來的話位置不太好找,其實它隱藏在Hugger Mugger lounge裡面。Moilee mussels,Irish mussels、mustard、lime、garlic、cherry tomatos in a creamy coconut sauce. 貝,肉質不是很肥美,質感更精瘦,但湯汁味道非常棒!最後用naan把湯汁沾完了。Kerala fish curry, sea bass, simmered in a coconut and ginger sauce, raw mangoes, curry leaves. 魚肉咖喱,肉質有些柴,咖喱很稀,味道很談,我不是特別喜歡。Rara kheema pau 「numbat bun」, rough minced lamb served with hot butter buns. 我最愛的印度街頭小吃,非常棒。但是實話實說,比起new punjap的kheema pau還是有差距,無論從包的質感,還是從羊肉碎的味道都略微差了一些。不過價格好過new punjapLobster龍蝦肉配炒煩,味道非常好吃,點的時候不

Garlic naan,印度菜必點。

忘了價格了,除了龍蝦其他價格都還可以,整體比new punjap便宜不少,但也不是很便宜。味道質量上不及new punjap,因為new punjap就在街對面,對比太明顯了,所以感覺可能不會再來了。

Chaiwala is one such place.It is a fairly new entry to a street full of restaurants.The entry is into a saloon themed bar called Hugger Mugger, the decor is full of rustic Indian elements and matches some of the finest restaurants of India.The place is a must visit of you want to try authentic north Indian cuisine.The dishes remain true to the balanced Indian flavours.We visited with a large group and were served with lots of courtesy and sharply dressed and styled waiting staff. We ordered a lot of vegetarian and non vegetarian starters and each of the dish was true to the name.
