是日跟好友補祝生日, 順道來過新年brunch buffet. 訂了米芝蓮一星的Gold by Harlan Goldstein. 筆者跟好友十二時多到達, 地方不算大, 環境非常優雅, 但氣氛輕鬆自在, 很欣賞.brunch buffet 每位(HK$328), 包頭盤和沙律buffet+餐湯或迷你餐前意粉,+主菜+甜品+餐飲.

頭盤和沙律buffet選擇很多, 筆者嚐試了:

火腿: 味道不錯, 一點肥膩也沒有.

翡翠螺: 非常推介, 真的很鮮甜. 肉質新鮮, 有咬口, 滿分.

熟蝦: 一般然而.

芝士: 很香濃, 芝士迷應該很高興.

Parma ham 配蜜瓜: Para ham 剛剛好, 不油膩, 薄薄的配上蜜瓜中和一下, impressive!

煙三文魚: 感覺新鮮, 味道不俗.

吞拿魚三文魚子cracker: 吞拿魚本身帶鹹, 三文魚子也是鹹, cracker夠脆口, 但混合後沒有特別火花, 味道一般.

雞肉沙律: 雞肉頗滑, 但醬汁頗酸, 有進步空間.

之後筆者點選迷你餐前意粉 – Angel hair Pasta, Tiger Prawns, Dried Cherry Tomatoes, crispy garlic and basil . 賣相吸引, 分量也不少,有兩隻新鮮大蝦, 一些天使麵, 可試五六口呢! 大蝦很爽口, 帶有一點鮮味, 好吃. 至於天使麵, 難度不及意粉, 天使麵本質沒有所謂al dente與否, 口感一般. 味道則好像甜了一點, 鹹一點會好一點.

之後主菜送到, 是 “Melt in your mouth” Salmon, cauliflower Puree, Brussel Sprouts and Spanish Onion Jam. 簡單來說即是它們的慢煮三文魚. 試一口, 真的很嫩滑, 果然入口即溶, 從沒想過魚的質感可以如此, 非常推介. 但配上的汁好像甜一點, 一點點美中不足.

之後的甜品環節, 點選了 “Gold’s”Dessert Surprise, 是日開心果puff配cookie n cream雪糕. 賣相ok.外層酥皮配上內裏雪糕和藍莓醬和一些餅底, 口感味道層次也豐富, 很美味.

最後的餐飲, 點選了熱咖啡. 這裡的咖啡非常酸, 實在無法入口.

整體來說仍是近來最滿意的一餐. 侍應非常醒扒有禮, 值得一讚, 不愧是harlan集團.

港式奶茶意大利雪糕 Gelato - 十八世紀時冰淇淋的製作隨著新大陸的移民傳到美國,美式冰淇淋在口感滑潤鬆軟及偏重口味需要使用較高的糖與脂肪等基本配方, 同時也需要打入較多的空氣, 所以才叫做ice cream。
Gelato的,按照意大利語與之中的直接翻譯,它被譯為“冰淇淋”, 而gelato在義大利政府有規定乳脂肪含量不能超過8%,所以基本上都是低乳脂配方。在製作上並不希望打入過多空氣,所以材料比較札實。以相等體積來比較,Gelato的重量通常遠重於美式ice cream。口感卻是ice cream所望塵莫及的。Gold餐廳特別推介的港式奶茶Gelato, 口感不錯, 跟香港其他Gelato店的出品要好, 較為清新。


另外, Graffeo's Famous Coffee 我認為太苦, 咖啡味太強, 我朋友也同樣認為。

HK$328 + 10% 收費都合理。

"HG" Burger雖沒早前在日本吃到的漢堡扒難忘,但切開來中間亦流出肉汁,質感鬆軟不油膩。配料的高打芝士鹹香,煙肉煎得香脆。松露蛋黃醬香味逼人,伴碟那些胖胖的薯條也好吃。不過最喜歡是那Brioche般香甜鬆脆的漢堡包,跟肉和蔬菜都很搭。

餐後還有Coffee or Tea。是近期吃過最滿意的一頓,從主食到細節,都幾乎挑剔不到不滿意的地方,實力遠超不少同級一星西菜。再訪固然是當然的事,不過更期待一試姊妹餐廳Strip House。

這日我們談天說地就在Gold by Harlan Goldstein hea了差不多2小時,實在休閒輕鬆。這裡整體食物相當不錯,環境及服務亦同樣令人滿意。如果要為這餐的經驗評分,我會給這裡一個'金' (gold),是個值得推介的weekend brunch好地方。

Gold by Harlan Goldstein is a busy place with full house booking even on a weekday.  It's not heavily decorated in an ornate way to win the customers then it's not too nosy nor dim that I can have a chat with my friend.
We glanced through the menu and the daily specials, we finally decided to go for the tasting menu which we believe it's "value for money" (yeah, somehow I felt awkward to use this phrase since the tasting menu isn't cheap but then it's value for money in the sense that the prices of the dishes will be tripled if we go for a la carte).  What's more, I went for the wine pairing option too as the increment was only couple hundred dollars which is definitely affordbale!

The house bread loaf was very good and we could only finish half of the portion.  I struggled for 2 secs to pack them home...of course I didn't have the gut to do so at the end.  Yet, I would finish them for sure were it not I ordered the tasting menu.

It took me some time to figure out the ingredients of this appetizer.  Honestly, I am not into deep fried food especially deep fried veggie - too fattening with all the absorbed into the vegetable (Japanese tempura may be an exception);  the deep fried zucchini tasted okay, not impressive though.  Yet I have to compliment the slow cooked Sicilian octopus, they were so tender & juicy that I couldn't even tell they were octopus!

The handcrafted tagliolini pasta was the Chef special, it costs $480 (something like that) in the a la carte menu.  The reason behind is very simple...they added the black truffle then the price went up like crazy.  We were told that the origin of these black truffle was from Tasminia, something new to me since I have never tried any AUS truffle before.  To my disappointment, the black truffle didn't give out the unique smell, just very ordinary after all.  The handcrafted pasta was very nicely prepared yet the Italian melting egg made the whole dish too soggy.  In an exaggerating saying, I felt like having a bowl of casserole more than a pasta dish.

We were 95% full when the main course was brought to us, thank God, I ordered the sea bass instead of the lamb rack.  It's always risky to order fish in western cuisine, the probability to get a crapy one is 70/30.  From my past experience, the fish would either be too chewy, tasteless or over-cooked.  I am not sure if this relate to the limited choice of fish for western cuisine...anyhow, I tried my luck again to order the sea bass then surprisingly, they were really delectable.  The sliced sausages on the side was good as well but I was just too full to finish everything

侍應一端上這甜品, 眾人已急不及待拿起叉子要將它五馬分屍了,
一切開, 濃濃的白朱古力+吉士醬慢慢流出, 甜是甜, 卻不像平常的心太軟這麼膩,
5人分吃不過是一口便清碟了

總覺得聊天是要有美酒相伴, 才能談得暢快, 加上美味甜點,
我覺得聊多久都不累呢!

I have always wanted to try Gold so went there for dinner for the first time. Overall the place, the service, and the food were all fine but on the whole not as good as expected.

The place - not bad. Tables are reasonably spaced apart but the decoration is a cross between 90s USA west coast trendy chic and New York night club look. The protruding sets of concentric circles on the ceiling have a retro feel but would probably look better if the room had higher ceiling.

The staff - the young lady at the door who showed us to the table was slightly spaced out but the rest of the staff was fine. Service was not bad but not exceptional either.

The food - we tried the tasting menu with 5 courses (for $880 each). The foccacia bread that came before everything else was extremely good - fresh out of the oven with nice sun-dried tomatoes on top. The first course was pork with burrata on some fruit salad...a bit of a weird dish that was a bit watery. The second course was white asparagus with egg yolk which had a wonderful smoky flavor and was very good. Course number 3 was angle hair with clams which was very ordinary and some clams actually had sand in them! This was probably the most disappointing dish of the night. The fourth dish was the main course which was sea bass. The fish was very nice and tender but it had some very sweet puree on top which overpowered the fresh flavor of the fish. On the whole it was ok - the cuttlefish and potato that came with it were very tasty. The final dish was a chocolate and hazelnut mousse cake which was quite wonderful.

Hmmm...it was a reasonably pleasant meal but might be a while before I go back.

朋友介紹同老婆去試下名廚Harlan名下餐廳手勢  一開始已經無令我地失望 環境另人感覺好舒適  先黎麵包 之前試過其他類似級數既餐廳GOLD 既麵包係咁多間之最我地食左兩籃 飲既係 House White 本身對飲酒興趣不大 不過佳餚當前 都要飲返三兩杯招牌菜Scallop Carpaccio 驚喜十足 無論食落口既質感和味道都恰到好處 十分我比9分lobster bisque 龍蝦湯都比無論The One Harlan 或 CWB Alba 高出十倍Lobster Spaghetti 算係這個晚上比較失色少少既一道意粉時間控制可以 不錯 唯有係龍蝦overcooked 左好明顯地食得出不過整體好好好滿意 We will be back!!!! ^^

我地食左兩籃 


飲既係 House White 本身對飲酒興趣不大 不過佳餚當前 都要飲返三兩杯

招牌菜Scallop Carpaccio 驚喜十足 無論食落口既質感和味道都恰到好處 十分我比9分
lobster bisque 龍蝦湯都比無論The One Harlan 或 CWB Alba 高出十倍

Lobster Spaghetti 算係這個晚上比較失色少少既一道
意粉時間控制可以 不錯 唯有係龍蝦overcooked 左
好明顯地食得出

不過整體好好好滿意 We will be back!!!! ^^
