重頭戲就係女朋友摯愛——炸雞,呢間鋪頭既炸雞叫「港式咸檸炸雞」($158),我地有諗過會唔會係茶餐廳個種西檸雞,果然呢間嘢又刷新咗我地嘅三觀。好搞笑,當我地落單個陣,waiter仲勁唔好意思咁話炸雞比較耐,要等兩分鐘。我同女朋友你眼望我眼,唔係呀嘛等兩分鐘都要say sorry?唔通講錯咗其實要等兩個字?點知最後真係只係等咗幾分鐘,炸雞就上檯,今時今日呢種效率去邊度搵?
講返正題,炸雞。炸物最高境界就係香脆得嚟又唔會成口油膩,呢種技術日本做得最認真最出類拔萃。香港甚少有炸物可以做到飛油嘅境界,呢間餐廳,做得到。表面層份香脆,薄,完全唔油,好似啱啱烤完嘅雞皮咁香口,而佢只係一層麵粉!其次就係雞肉非常嫩滑兼且多汁,成功嘅炸物必須鎖好啲肉汁,呢一點都做得非常之好。最後有一點特別抵贊,就係落完檸檬汁之後,完全又係另一種口感。關鍵在於炸雞表層有落梅子粉,當你加咗檸檬汁上去之後,一啖咬落去,居然係一種刺激酸甜嘅口感,唔單單係酸,係酸甜!簡直就係將食材同配料運用到最高嘅境界,亦都無愧於「港式」呢個稱號。
由於炸雞份量頗多,環境又舒適,我同女友坐咗好耐先閃人,而老細同啲waiter都冇詐型,服務團態度認真抵贊。如果各位追求味覺上既新穎配搭,不妨來試試,埋單每人都係200左右咋。

想試試個花雕雞肝醬,點了一個蔥油餅。原以為蔥油餅是那種又厚又油的那種,吃一個飽半個胃的那款😂 。要不是朋友堅持想點,我又想試那個醬,我們就試不了這真身!
原來是薄身脆口的蔥油餅!very crispy!!


點上花雕雞肝醬,雞肝醬非常濃郁!上面那兩塊啫喱狀饟入紅棗,味道偏淡。蔥油餅和雞肝看似風馬牛不相及,但味道出乎預料地夾!

Bread & Beast is one of my favorite places for a sandwiches. The sandwiches are not the usual as they are heavily influenced by the local Hong Kong food scene. I often come here for lunch when I'm in the area. But they used to only be open during the day and close at night. But recently, they revamped everything and opened at night under a whole new name!


So, during the day it's called Bread & Beast.  But at night? It's called Kong. Gone are the sandwiches. What you get are small sharing tapas style plates and alcoholic drinks. Cocktails, craft beer,  wine. Even Chinese wine!


Boyfriend and I came here one evening for a light bite and drinks.  The place was popular and as it was not too warm out, we sat at the window.

Menu is in English with minimal Chinese. Staff speak mainly English and extremely helpful in explaining their concept and any suggestions. There's a more fun casual vibe to this place at night that is quite different than it is during the day. Food menu isn't a  lot but everything is meant for sharing.

Scallion Bing ($48) and Bone Marrow Whip ($68). We wanted to dip away at some bread and chose the bone marrow as I love bone marrow. It was hard to choose as they had some very interesting combinations. Originally, we thought it included crackers or something to dip it in as we had ordered a dip. Instead we discovered you have to order this separately. That was a bit surprising as most places give you something to dip with and only if you want more do you order extra. I wasn't so keen on this so be forewarned on this if you order a dip. We decided on the scallion bing as the ciabatta wasn't as interesting.  It was a pretty good decision on the scallion bing as it was fantastic. It was like a pita bread but smelled fantastic from all the scallions found through out. The bone marrow was buttery though a bit too salty.

Shelter Crab Cheesy Cheung Fan ($168). A fun take on the usual cheung fun that we're all used to. Cheung fan, the steamed rice  rolls you have during dim sum that is served with soysauce and perhaps some peanut sauce and hoisin sauce. But this is different. It was topped with crab meat and fish roe. And the sauce? A cheesy sauce with a smidge of XO flavor to give it a bit of spice. It reminded me of having something Korean and this was a fantastic dish. I wish there was more! We just lapped up the cheese sauce.

McDull ($78). For those that do not know, McDull is a local Hong Kong character about a pig. And this? This is pork belly. But instead of braising it the regular Cantonese way, it's pan fried so you get lots of crispy texture yet melt in your mouth fat. The sauce was a sweet and sour sweet soy vinegar. It was especially pronounced in the garlic topping.

Fun and inventive tapas that are clearly Hong Kong influenced.  The thing was the bread and dips should have been a bit more explained that they were sold separately. Most places include some sort of dipping bread or crackers with dip with an option to add more bread for extra cost. Otherwise, the food was good, the staff was friendly and fun. They provide a very cool fun vibe that fits the entire evening in that area. A good place for drinks and a bite to eat.

另外叫咗蓮藕片同埋炸雞皮,同樣有驚喜!個蓮藕片切到好薄同埋炸到好脆,第一下食落都唔覺得似蓮藕!但係真係好香口,而且佢落咗少少蔥花、同埋一個甜甜地嘅醬喺上面,送酒一流。炸雞皮亦都係另外一個好出色嘅小食,首先佢賣相已經好靚,一塊塊咋好嘅大雞皮放喺個碗嘅周邊,中間就放咗一隻中式嘅杯仔,用嚟裝一個好似千島醬嘅物體俾你點。第一眼望落去就此一大朵花係個碗入邊!雞皮無論就咁食、或者點將食都一樣好味,雞尾同油味都好香,但佢又唔會話食入口好油膩,好食!又係送酒絕配!
至於主食方便佢個menu暫時唔算好多,不過我哋兩個食下食下都飽咗七成左右,所以就叫多個腸粉食都應該夠啦。揀咗呢個車厘子可樂牛腩腸粉,聽到名就覺得怪怪地……但係黎到既時候又覺得佢賣相幾正常😂其實即係牛腩腸粉,用咗可樂加少少辣汁打咗個軒,在用咗啲韭菜同埋芽菜毯底,同埋幾粒煮過既車厘子啦。腸粉皮係有少少厚,但係入面個牛腩肉沾左個汁都好食。啲芽菜都係驚喜位,夾埋條腸粉一齊食提升到個口感。
總括一餐已飲嘢同小食為主,但係其實試咗幾樣小食加埋都幾飽肚。我哋都幾欣賞佢嘅創意同心思,其實帶外國遊客或朋友黎試下呢啲新派既港味fusion 菜都幾有趣,係值得一試既bar/餐廳。

The one that I really had to try was the Caesar salad made with fried dace in black bean sauce since I missed the chance to try the fried dace in black bean sauce pizza at some hotel in San po kong.
I couldn't believe how well they went together but I am biased as I just love anything with fried dace that I once requested for fried dace black bean congee and it was damn good.
This dish was inspired by salad with anchovies and capers which was replaced by the fried dace and it worked.

Next were the Brussel sprouts which I hesitated to order as they just looked dark in photos and boy I was wrong.
The photo does not do it any justice.
When you eat them, the surface of the Brussel sprout are crispy but soft inside bursting with tangy lime and fish sauce and you just can't stop eating them.

環境方面入到去已經覺得好chill 昏暗燈光同音樂令到環境好relax重點係港式同西式菜既Mix and Match, 今次叫左 糖醋豬腩肉, 車厘子可樂牛腩腸粉同話梅乳豬糖醋豬腩肉一尼到好香 肉質故意煎到表面脆脆地 (似西式佐酒小食既咬口) 所以唔會太油膩 糖醋味好夠 再有蔥香同少少辣椒吊味 車厘子可樂牛腩腸粉 夠滑溜 原片牛腩比腸粉包住 口感同平時茶樓一舊舊切碎咗既牛肉冇得比 好有新鮮感 雖然車厘子係配菜 但係佢甜甜地配埋腸粉既汁好juicy同入味👍🏻最好食係話梅乳豬 乳豬豬皮整得好香脆 肉質煮得岩岩好唔會好老 仲係熱辣辣上碟 話梅醬都好夠味 最後餐廳職員服務好好咁樣問我地意見 仲介紹咗兩隻dessert cocktail - 芝麻糊豆腐花 同 楊枝甘露; 呢度氣氛好好 菜式既mix and match 連Hong Kong Local 都覺得有新鮮感 值得推介👏🏻
