The interior is a little funkier than the smaller Wanchai branch, but the product is the same (and the staff too!).  The guy who normally serves at Wanchai took our order and proceeded to cook the bing as well.

We ordered the standard number 1 jianbing.  It is delicious and simple and a little spicy.  The crunch and softness combined with the chilli sauce and the coriander is just a wonderful combination - classic.

We also tried the number 7 HK cha chaan bing.  The purple coloured bing is filled with peanut butter and condensed milk.  It was also on a deal for only 10 dollars.  After taking a bite, I was in a happiness coma for a few minutes.  It was sweet, sticky and chewy in all the best ways possible.  I was SO happy with it, I almost ordered a second (but I restrained myself).

Mr. Bing is awesome.  Both locations are up to the same standard and I HIGHLY recommend that you eat there.

自從遲退上環的工作後很少過海,來到中環這斜路,終於可乘機試試老金煎餅。看文字介紹,估計大約是這名外國人,到中國旅遊後,將中國的傳統食品,注入更多元素帶來香港,很諷刺吧。煎餅有數種面漿製成的餅底,小米粉、綠豆粉,蕎麥粉,而我們選了紫米粉。烤鴨及叉燒似乎有點兒格格不入,而我們又只是想吃個下午茶順道淺嚐,所以還是選了煉奶、花生醬那款,內裏還有一片薄脆。新鮮煎起,燙手燙口,雞蛋香、煉奶香、薄脆爽,多重滋味。其實我最欣賞現場音樂搭配,上文提到本店乃由一名外籍人士將中國傳統小吃帶回香港,現場音樂都是一些西方嘻哈音樂,譜上普通話饒舌,中西糅合,求同存異。店內塗鴉亦增添了嘻哈感覺。

朋友想試下呢間小店既燒餅, 因為據聞係幾特別的, 所以去試下~~~原來係類似快餐Express, 可能因為是晚飯時間冇人食小食, 所以唔洗排隊, 不過餐廳只有少量坐位,仲要係高枱, 所以坐得唔舒服~~叫左兩款, 原味燒餅同北京填鴨燒餅~~兩款都係熱辣辣, 即叫即整~~入面除左肉、菜同蔥,仲有d脆脆餅,令個餅咬落有層次, 幾得意~~不過砍款都係唔夠汁, 比較乾~~因為餅皮本身都乾身同冇味, 如果可以多d醬汁同肉汁就更好了~

一個以老外在北京學煎餅,然後在港開店的故事,的確吸引眼球。可惜,味道並不如名氣!某天經過灣仔,發現老金再了分店,我在想,有口碑才有本錢拓展,味道應該不錯。可惜當天因事未能一嚐,這天經過中環,剛好有空一試。因飽的原故,沒有叫烤鴨,叫了基本的老金煎餅,加HK$10,升級標準版(本來的價格是細份版嗎?奇怪的訂價!),另加HK$5要了杯酸梅汁。煎餅的皮是出色的,鬆軟甘香,餅身上的黑芝麻也頗香,可是餡料甚少,一隻蛋加少許蔥,再加兩塊沒有味道的脆餅(有點像吃粥的脆卜卜,但淡而無味),然後塗些醬料一捲而成。味道和北京的煎餅相差太遠!可能我叫的太素?烤鴨味道會好一點?...至於酸梅汁,淡而無味,需要改善。服務方面,負責收銀的兩位青年人沒甚麼耐性,自顧談話,堂食忘了給紙碟,也沒有指示膠食具的擺放位置。客人問一句才答一句,非常被動。反而,操得一口流利京片子的北京大媽,態度親切,笑容可掬,值得一讚!

Had to wait for the Bing too cool down because it was too hot initially to hold or eat it.
Once it cooled down I took a bite.
All the elements in the Bing tasted delicious.
It tasted like McDonald's apple pie because of the crispy bits which acted like the outside of the pie and the Kaya, fresh apple slices and strong cinnamon were just like the filling in the pie.
I would prefer less of the Kaya because the Kaya can be quite sweet.

至於煎餅皮本身亦有多種口味選擇,如綠豆粉,小米粉,蕎麥粉和紫米麵粉,小妹當然選擇最原始正宗的綠豆粉吧。向來十分喜愛食烤鴨的我,也絕不走眼於這店人氣最高、亦是最貴一款的烤鴨煎餅。煎餅可加$5-6配套餐,便可選凍豆漿或酸梅汁。

由於當日的客人不多,店員很快就為我們開爐展出熟練的手藝:先把綠豆粉糊倒在圓形的煎盤上掃開,然後塗上一層的蛋汁和灑上黑芝麻,烘熱後便逐一把青瓜、烤鴨肉絲、京蔥、酸薑等的配料放在煎餅上,最後再塗上海鮮醬,把煎餅左疊右,右疊左便大功告成了。整個過程大約兩分鐘,看似份量細小,但經摺疊後卻異常大份,基本上是一個人也吃不完一整個的份量!

即叫即煎的煎餅,新鮮熱烘烘的,入口煎餅帶軟身,塗上的蛋汁帶點濕潤,配上黑芝麻後加添了幾分香口。內饀十分豐富且平均分佈在煎餅上,不會一入口僅只食到塊煎餅皮而食到中間才能嚐到內饀的滋味,是值得加分之處。

一入口並非如很多人所說的酸薑味太濃,反而就吃到很飽滿的烤鴨肉絲,配上海鮮醬,甜甜的十分惹味,加上青瓜粒清甜爽口,能平衡口腔中的油膩感。但因新鮮即成的關係,當擺放得耐一些,熱力會令煎餅變得愈來愈稔身,口感頓時差了一大節。

但整體而言,這份烤鴨煎餅還是做得不錯的。日後若經過中環,偶然也可以過來買一件mini size份量來過一過食片皮鴨的口癮吧!

雖然與魚子醬一起出街不是問題,但比單身隻影時更感舟車勞頓,因此久未到過只有斜路與斜路的中上環一帶,是日既然路過,一家三口就此一試。在店外的餐牌雖然圖文並茂卻沒詳列材料,店內的就清晰得多。選了又選,最後還是決定由基本的試起,沒有特別要求走醬/走青,點的是Baby Size;雖然是面對面的製作,但在放滿材料掛架的工作檯,其實看不到太多不消一會接過煎餅,滾燙的,最後放在吧檯,用刀叉享用,其實店方可以為堂食的用碟上,不用浪費紙袋。味道比想像中濃烈,不過北方口味多半如此,餅皮包著薄脆,大量芝麻蔥花南乳等,惹味得來口感層次多。但愈吃愈覺得像大澳的香妃卷,原來如此,但本人較是較愛漁村風味的京式燒餅。

Tried the Peking Duck Crepe here. I had the baby crepe - which was a good size as a snack or light lunch. The middle was crispy and crunchy even though the outside was soft - a very interesting texture. It could've been better with more duck, but had enough peking duck sauce in it. Overall, very nice!I was really surprised that the servers could only speak english. Also, the guy at the till couldn't even tell me how big a baby size was - he should know even if he's not the one making it!

店舖面積很少,坐位大約只有6、7個,枱亦很窄,只有一隻手掌般闊,坐得不是太舒服,比較適宜外賣。老金煎餅的logo好易認,黃黃橙橙,標榜是正宗北京味道,卻不知為何店員主要是菲律賓人,落單主要都是用英文溝通。我點了上海煎餅,套餐售$42,regular size 煎餅+豆漿/酸梅汁/汽水落單後等叫number,可以望住店員為自己泡製,可以自己要求調較口味。開始煎餅啦,先下粉醬,再加一隻雞蛋,伴均。煎到咁上下反轉,加入材料,上海煎餅的餡料跟上海秶飯大致相同,有肉鬆油炸鬼,這裡配上豆板醬,少許辣,油炸鬼放久了有點硬身。size 都頗大,不用擔心當lunch 不夠飽酸梅汁味道似是用酸梅粉開,不太似平日飲煲的酸梅湯。
