I was running late and had trouble finding the restaurant. It was on the first floor of an apartment building. I missed it as I was looking for a resturant, not an apartment. Then you had to walk through a long hall way, go up a flight of stairs to get to the restaurant. The restaurant space was an awkward L shape. From where we sat, we faced the entrace. There was a big empty space at the entrance with a fake cherry tree. The restaurant was painted in black but the decor was not chic at
Between the three of us we shared 6 dishes and 1 dessert. The portion sizes are not big. The truffle crab dip was a winner, it was served with rice crackers, it had nice texture and was really tasty. The tuna was a bit under seasoned and I didn't think it worked well with the iberco ham as the ham was hard and difficult to chew. The texture did not match well.
Scallop with ice lettuce was great. This is the first time I've seen ice lettuce and it really looked like there were bits of ices frozen over the leafs. The texture was really crunchy and it provided a nice contrasting texture with the scallops. Then we were brought the garlic beef which we didn't order. We decided to keep it cause we were hungry. The beef was tender and the flavors reminded of Chinese garlic beef, except here it's sliced vs cubes at Chinese restaurant. The restaurant also put an extra order of beef ribs for us which we didn't order.
Now on to the pastas! I actually heard so much about the uni pasta which turned out to be disappointing. I love uni so much, but this pasta came with only one piece of uni and after you mix it into the pasta, there was hardly any uni flavors. The pasta just tasted like a creamy but bland pasta. I also found it to be too sweet. The bone marrow and octopus pasta was much better and had a lot more flavors. The octopus was tender. But this one was also a bit on the sweet side Service needs some improvement, they put in wrong orders for us and brought wrong dishes to our table. We finished around 10:30pm and was sitting around chatting, then the restaurant turned off lights in the open kitchen area, the restaurant suddenly became really dark. I get the staff wants to go home but it was not even 11pm... So we hurridly paid the bill and left.
