For appetisers I recommend getting the parma ham. You get a really large board of parma ham which goes well with a glass of wine! Would be even better if they had some grapes and cheese to accompany it. That would be perfect.

Another tagliolini on another night. Consistency could be improved as on this visit, there was some excess water from the tagliolini at the bottom, which caused the tagliolini to be slightly soggy.

As per always, PICI always has a crowd. We came as a group of three and had to grab a drink up the street while we waited for their call.

Upon seating, we ordered the tasting menu and picked three appetizers, 4 pastas and 3 desserts for $280 per head plus a carafe of wine.

The standouts for me would be the burrata and mussels pasta dish. The average include the beef tartare and the truffle pasta. I’ve never had slices of button mushrooms on my beef tartare and I just didn’t think it was a good taste profile match at all. It needed something oily to pair them up better in my opinion. As for the truffle pasta, the truffle itself is definitely shaved. However, as you would expect at this price range, it’s a bottom tier truffle probably imported from China or Australia. The flavour profile was definitely lacking.

That said, I love the ambience and their dedication to making fresh pasta. I wish more restaurants can dish out solid dishes at affordable prices here in HK! I’d definitely come back with friends.

The meatball ($90) was a bit disappointing as the dish came semi-cold, luckily the lovely staff handled it and brought us back a nice three pieces meatballs. Good service is a good add-on to the already impeccable pasta.

而我就叫咗呢份Classic Lasagna經典千層麵($120蚊),因為要焗嘅關係都比阿肥份主食耐小小上枱,嚟到嘅時候仲聽到面頭焗到熱辣辣嘅滋滋聲同埋氣泡波動,職員提示唔好掂到個玻璃盤因為實在係extremely hot!~見到上面佈滿一層芝士已經流哂口水...慢慢咀嚼,脆脆咸咸嘅芝士味道香濃,正合我心意
而千層麵嘅層次非常分明,麵條光身滑溜,口感軟身,自家製嘅出品果然係與眾不同
相比之下本小姐認為呢份千層麵較好味,價錢亦比阿肥嗰碟平

仲未食完,仲有個甜品⋯⋯大杯到係用平時茶餐廳熱飲果隻杯裝滿一杯tiramisu/奶凍,我地3個人share都食唔晒,其實都幾好味,但真係太飽,想食晒佢都無空間放,如果細食既人,建議散叫一碟pasta就夠!餐廳仲要唔收加一,俾$148就好似食左2餐甘,相對附近soho貴夾唔飽既餐廳,呢間真心推薦比大胃王試下!

Pici deserves an ovation for their pastas. Order the pasta and... more pastas when you are here because that’s the only thing you should be eating.Don’t believe the “All the pasta has been designed to share” because I ain’t sharing no more at Pici and the portion, really, it’s just for me, myself and I. 3 people tonight and we ordered 3 pastas, the homemade meatballs and radicchio salad (eeeek goat cheese! but that’s just me).The meatballs were too soft for my liking. Don’t believe the “All the pasta has been designed to share” because I ain’t sharing no more at Pici and the portion, really, it’s just for me, myself and I. 3 people tonight and we ordered 3 pastas, the homemade meatballs and radicchio salad (eeeek goat cheese! but that’s just me).


The meatballs were too soft for my liking. They fell apart quite easily and I was hoping for more herbs in the sauce. A saltier parmesan shaving might save the day but Pici’s were just for “decoration”.


The orecchiette (cat ears) was the BEST! We ordered this after having 2 pastas (because the menu lied and we were still craving for more) and it still tasted fantastic! The “ears” were thick, al dente and had that satisfying doughy (flour) taste that carb lovers would be addicted to. The sausages and spicy n’duja (googled - spicy piggy gut sausage spread) coated every bite perfectly. I chewed every “ear” very preciously like how I would treat them on an Italian hottie.


2nd favorite was the mussels with tagliatelle. The mussels were tiny so let’s disregard them but they did contribute to the saffron sauce with a touch of the ocean. The tagliatelle was eggy and each strand “snapped” in your mouth without being sticky. The pappardelle with 8-hour slow-cooked beef cheek was good but the other 2 pastas were BETTER (all the beef fat in the ragu was good for my thirsty chapped lips).


Good pricing in general. The ravioli will be my next target at Pici!!!

Anyway, the lunch menu is simple and clear.  $148 for starters + Pasta + Dolci.  We took Beef Tartare, Radiccho salad as starters, Pappardelle & Plin ravioli as pasta and one tiramisu as dolci (you can choose expresso as alternative).  They also serve bread at the start.

At the bar, you can observe the young lady making the pasta with the machine.  A good showmanship to demonstrate that their pasta is fresh daily.

The restaurant is quite stylish and has its character.  I checked the outlook of their other two restaurants in Wanchai and Tsim Sha Tsui and they are of similar style.  However, may be it is a bit packed, it is quite noisy and soft voices as we both are, it's good opportunity to practice raising our voices.

The portions of starters were above expectation.  As for pasta, the Ravioli had six pieces and the portion of Pappardella was a bit smaller.  However, the sauces of the two dishes blended well with the pasta.

The Tiramisu is large, served in a large glass.  It was quite sweet and really it is not authentic Italian style Tiramisu.

Pricewise, it was quite standard in Central area.  I am not sure if they have Tea time and would be interested to visit again with my wife.
