Vasco, the fine-dining part of the double-decked eatery, serves truly Basque cuisine - Basque is in fact along the border of France and Spain. [Vasco will be replaced by the Drawing Room, a Michelin starred restaurant, in mid-May 2016.] To get a taste of Mediterranean menu designed by the Spanish chef Paolo Casagrande who previously worked in a two-Michelin-starred restaurant, a lunch within $200 per head is a worthwhile go.

Upon arrival, one is led through a corridor before stepping into the restarant area. No need to be confused whether you go the right way to Isono or Vasco, as the latter one is accessed through the winding stairs inside Isono.

In line with other fine-dining eateries under the restaurant group Drawing Concepts (like AMMO and ALMA), interior design is well taken care by Joyce Wang to immerse customers in the dining experience. One may associate ocean and vacation for "Mediterranean", but industrial chic design with shimmering bulbs, metallic steel columns and artisanal fittings create the casual ambience.

I love this high-ceiling design that can be hardly seen in eateries in town. A similar one being a bar with such a high ceiling is Ping Pong 129, but the perfection cannot be attained without natural light seeping in.

There are various kinds of seatings, including a communal wooden table that can host 12 people, stools around high tables which are suitable for a catchup drink, cosy sofa seats for a decent meal, last but not least, a balcony area with high privacy for smokers or those who want al fresco dining experience. There are also four VIP rooms that can host up to 10 people each.

What motivates me for this visit is a practical discount - buy 1 get 1 free for 2-course lunch sets with Visa Signature credit cards. At the end, we ordered the 3-course option instead, which is $189, just that $159 is the maximum amount that can be freed. Even without the discount, $159 for 2 courses and $189 for 3 courses is acceptable given the status of Isono's famous chef and its word-of-mouth in Mediterranean cuisine. Compared to Vasco serving 2-course lunch sets at $349, this is a super good deal already.

Not difficult to pick among several choices under each heading. The menu is vegetarian-friendly as there are options marked [V]. Appetizers come in 10 minutes after ordering.

It isn't hard to find sashimi in cuisines other than Japanese which is very often phrased as "tartare", but it is a rare gem in town to find Hamachi sashimi served with a western twist. Flint Bar & Grill at JW Marriott serves Hamachi Tartare with green apple, cucumber and soy-wasabi dressing, which doesn't deviate much from how Japanese usually serves sashimi. Serving with common ingredients in Turkish and Mediterranean salad, thin slices of raw Hamachi were decently placed on the plank with these being the sauce as well as something to garnish. Neither soy sauce nor wasabi is needed - these herbs can do the job well.

Being a type of well-bred yellowtail, Hamachi (油甘魚/はまち) is strong in oily aroma and this is no exception. Having it thinly sliced to translucent form does avoid the bold and buttery texture being excessive. It has a sweet aftertaste and is well accompanied by the sweet and sour dressing - capers and olives contributing the briny and savory taste, while tomatoes giving the sweet and fresh highlight.

Beef Carpaccio is no stranger to Italian cuisine as one of the quintessential starters. I usually have it with rockets or arugula, but just had this Italian dish the first time in a French way.

Slices of paper-thin raw beef is delicate and fine, with equally thin slices of zucchini on top and Vinaigrette as the dressing, replacing the quick marinade of olive oil and lemon in traditional Italian form. While the dressing is light-bodied as well, what the dish displays is simply - delicate.

Zucchini is similar to cucumber which gives a refreshing taste, but is not as crispy and juicy. Its mild taste well fits in as a bridge between velvety flavour of beef and fruity vinaigrette without overpowering the two. For the beef, although it is unknown that which part of the cow is used, there isn't much less fat and connective tissue which ensures you a lean and clean texture without being stringy.

While you can argue that zucchini plays a highly similar role as rockets, the mint and orange vinaigrette should be the highlight that makes the most difference from its Italian form. It is a French word which is related to "vinaigre", the French word for Vinegar. Adding mint and orange instead of lemon zest, acidity is lower, thus giving a softer touch which is just right to blend into the beefy taste.

After having the appetizers, I pondered where the bread basket was. The crusty loaf already cut in slices came after popping such a question to the staff - not sure if this is left out. Having a crunchy crust and airy interior and dipping it into olive oil and vinegar which is placed on the table, it adds a fulfilling touch especially for men whom may not be satiated by Isono's lunch sets.

We basically finished off the bread without plates, leaving bread crumbs all over the table. In fact it doesn't look hygienic to place cutlery on the bare table either, especially given the fact that my cutlery has been used and has to be re-used for my next dish...

I recalled the roasted suckling pig served with smashed potatoes and sauerkraut at Playa de Papagayo, a restaurant in Tsim Sha Tsui for tapas brunch. This time, it is slow-cooked but not roasted, which doesn't make the exterior crispy but tender and melting instead.

In a size of my fist (not big), the pig shank is laid on top of creamy-looking mashed potatoes, garnished by crumbs of chorizo and chives. Serving this in a red pot looks classic and makes me recall the craze of my female friends towards Le Creuset cookware.

Slow-cooking or long-hour braising should be the best way to enjoy pig shank for its high collagen and melting texture. It is way more "muscular" than Chinese trotter (南乳豬手), but the similarity is that there is a layer of fat on the top. After having it slow-cooked, this layer of fat is nearly melting in my mouth with grease cooked out of the pork in the process.

For the muscles, it is so tender and succulent that it is easily separated from the bone which is luckily not a thick one. It is somewhere near the texture of ribs in Chinese soup, but it is just right. Chorizo, a kind of Spanish sausage, gives a savory highlight.

For the mashed potatoes underneath, just like those served with snails, it melts in mouth without getting too buttery in taste after sopping up the potent sauce and grease of pork shank.

The only thing that can be criticized is the portion - it is fine for me but bet it won't be enough for a man as it comes as a main course.

My colleague goes for the pasta, which is a well-expected move of a male after I told him about the small portion of food here. To my surprise, this dish isn't really small and twirled decently with Bolognese and powdered cheese all over.

It seems not a worthy go to choose such a homely pasta dish as a main course, but a good Bolognese is what makes it a rare gem to be enjoyed. The sauce is just right (not too watery) to bind noodles together, not leaving much on the plate after finishing off the Tagliatelle, which is a type of pasta is great to be accompanied by meat-based sauces like Fettuccine.

If you look for al dente pasta, this may not win your heart as there is still room for improvement for its texture - it can be cooked slightly longer as it tastes rather firm. A satiating dish still - taste is good but texture can be improved.

Being 80% full for the first two courses doesn't stop me from being decadent for desserts. To my total surprise, these two desserts give me a wow and I never expect that they are the best dishes for this visit.

Tiramisu comes in a small cup, with layers of white and brown clearly displayed at the cross section. Chocolate crumbles, mascarpone cream, ladyfingers soaked with coffee liquor and so on.

What grabs my attention is slightly salted taste of chocolate crumbles on the top, possibly added with a hint of sea salt. It gives a refreshing and surprising taste among the sweetness of chocolate and bitterness of coffee liquor. Not a big fan of chocolate, I am more than happy to enjoy the tiramisu given that the level of sweetness is just fit and balanced.

Tiramisu isn't the climax yet - the passionfruit crème brûlée surprised me even more. The highlight is the slightly acidic twist by passionfruit aroma on the quintessential French dessert, which is normally in vanilla-flavoured custard base. LGB serves variations of crème brûlée, but never in passionfruit I bet?

Cracking through the burnt sugar, custard base looks as if it was in vanilla. The caramelised top is thick and crunchy, while the passionfruit base tastes soft like butter. Its slightly sour flavour and fruity aroma wins over the traditional vanilla one, as it balances off the buttermilk texture which may easily make one fed up.

To maximize the discount enjoyed, one can of course order two 2-course sets which give rise to less than $100 per head, but the extra amount spent to get two excellent desserts is such a good deal! Appetizers and main courses are doing good, but desserts are even performing better.

The theatrical tapas bar which features gin and tonic should not be missed, but definitely has to be left for my second visit not during lunch time. One can grab postcards in the wooden box and stamps will be given if you order a cocktail - what a touristy idea!

Passing through the corridor again when leaving, I cannot take my eyes off the mysterious retail corner. Pending for exploration, but I guess those on shelf should be wine, olive oil or pastes.

Start thinking about weekend lunch after having this weekday lunch, I find out that it is just $198 for 3 courses which is just $9 more expensive than weekdays'! Normally weekend meals are marked up a lot, and this definitely allures me for a second visit, probably a weekend one to enjoy the casual vibe longer!

休閒的星期日,與友人到這家位於中環PMQ的Bar享用午餐,沒有訂座但亦不需要等候,服務員很nice很funny, 加上環境很relax, 食物賣相吸引,味道有驚喜!面包外脆內軟,可配醋+油,但因為我比較喜歡牛油,簡單的配牛油已經很不錯這個湯真的非常驚喜,creamy soup加上squid粒味道跟口感都一流豬手配薯蓉,豬手很軟很juicy, 正!三文魚配什菜甜品亦是一絕,必食!

吃過數款tapas後,發現這裡有一系列相當特別的plankton菜式。Plankton是一種海洋浮藻,這裡的plankton菜式選擇有配海鮮飯、意粉等,我們選了一客regular size的plankton seafood paella ($318)。

Isono的paella用了其中相當吸收水分的bomba米種,煮出來飯粒盡吸海鮮和plankton海藻精華,味道鮮美,加上鍋邊和鍋底的脆脆飯焦,美味呢~

我叫了一杯sangria,想不到十分滿意。

杯底有粒粒的水果,士多啤梨、橙、蘋果等等

還混入了一點點比較高濃度的酒,令到after taste 後不會只有水果紅酒的甜味,兩者平衡得剛剛好。

吃到尾段,帥氣的大廚走過來打招呼,還端來他的拿手小吃-炸馬鈴薯球;酥脆的外層,裡面是近乎流質的馬鈴薯泥和咸鱈魚絲/臘腸粒,味道極好,謝謝大廚的招待 ^^

打從第一次接觸鯷魚便喜歡上它,可謂一見鍾情。新 Tapas Menu 內備有兩款鯷魚的選擇,卒先點了 Bread w/ Butter Anchovies。入口麵包酥香,層次有點與酥皮接近,不過要比酥皮鬆脆多了。面層塗上鹹香的醬汁和盛上幼細的鯷魚,鬆軟交集、豐味非常,來一口白酒配送,大為滿足!

一轉眼,又是鯷魚的 Show Time!今次配上酸瓜的鯷魚,味道特別濃厚,套用外婆的一句:「酸鹹得盲公也開眼了!」,不過那份濃烈偏偏又令人不願放棄,特別是愛好杯中物的人士,細細咬一口,經酒精沖擦後,那股餘韻依然叫人迷醉!不過並非所有人也可領會,就像情侶一樣要 Matching!

幸好,裡面全是一口版的迷你牛肉丸,否則真是要打包回府。牛肉丸很鬆化彈牙,以清鮮的蕃茄汁配搭,透出甜酸的味兒,一瞬間,胃納好像又騰出空間來了!

面層放有兩塊烘焗過的麵包,味道與質感跟早前兩款鯷魚的是一樣,所以也特別討我歡心。將小鍋中的牛肚和肉腸粒盛於麵包之上,細嚼下,柔靭兼入味的牛肚與鹹香的肉腸,加上溫和的醬汁,共同譜出美妙的味道來,令人有著驚喜!

HAPPY FRIDAY從來都得遵從慢活人得好好享受的一天,尤其LUNCH是個不得不重視的假日前奏。位於PMQ HOLLYWOOD六、七樓的一級西班牙菜是2016的首試項目,聽聞由西班牙米芝蓮兩星餐廳RESTAURANTE LASARTE的行政總廚PAOLO CASAGRANDE掌舵,主打的是西班牙巴斯克美食,不過百聞若不一試就是當下的廢噏,於是跟飯腳們用了信用咭優惠,到ISONO享用了2 COURSE午餐。餐廳地方裝潢精緻,時代感、層次感都很好,燈飾以柔和橙色為主,中廳兩層打通,由元創方走入室內,份外體會到設計者的空間無間限,音樂很有情調。英文餐單分別有套餐或單點,選擇性都有很多,但今次我們只限於優惠,所以試到的只是主流菜色。餐包即時熱送上,可配以OLIVIA OIL或牛油,外層香脆程度可接受,內裡都算鬆軟,味道可以。但由於等候食物時間很長,大概主菜前三十分鐘都會源源不絕送上。GREEN PEA SOUP W/SQUID & SQUID INK青豆湯配以墨魚,字面是有墨魚汁調校味道,賣相綠油油,入口清新、豆味濃郁不油,但飲多幾口有感咸了少許,夾雜的墨魚都彈牙。CHARGRILLED

主菜一上,
深明其"細緻"之處,亦了解之前餐包的重要性。菜色小巧精緻,魚皮煎得金黃帶點焦,魚油被煎得油滋滋流出,入口油感稔香,肉質嫩滑都尚可以,蘸上SOUR CREAM 更顯肉鮮味濃,飯腳覺得比較油膩,我覺得還可以。

But we were hungry, and by the PMQ, and the place we wanted to go was booked solid, so we gave it a go.Isono bills itself as a "Spanish-centric Mediterranean kitchen." From looking around on their website apparently there is a tapas menu available at high tables and the bar, but not the regular dining area. We were not informed of this when we arrived, we were just asked whether we were there for drinks

We ordered all three "warm appetizers" off the menu we were given. Everything on the menu, save for desserts and sides, comes in a "regular" and a "large" size, the first being described as "a few bites for 2 to share" and the second as "a few bites for 3-4 to share".

The first dish to arrive was "Chargrilled Octopus w/ Potatoes, Tomato Dates & Piquillo Pepper Sauce." It was OK. It came out lukewarm; I was uncertain as to whether that was intentional. The octopus was meaty and tender, the potatoes were bland and nothing else really stood out.

When you're paying $148 for a few bites, you kind of expect a little more razzle dazzle.

Here are two separate dishes, Pata Negra Ham Croquette ($118), and Organic Padron Peppers ($98). Both of these dishes arrived hot. The croquettes were crispy on the outside and very creamy on the inside. I thought they were pretty good. The padron peppers could've used a bit more char, and maybe a little more salt, but they were nice and meaty and it was good to get our vegetables in. (We didn't get any spicy ones.)

We also ordered the Meat Paella ($220) from the "Rice & Pasta" section of the menu. (Yes, the Spanish place has pasta, and yes it's carbonara-- we're in Hong Kong, what did you expect?) I was worried that ordering paella might be too much, but the menu is serious about its claim that "regular" means "a few bites for 2 people." It was all pretty good. There was some kind of pork rib and some chicken in there (no description of what "meat" is on the menu). They use Bomba rice, which is supposed to hold thrice its volume in liquid, and the rice was plump and tender while still being a little crispy from the pan.

Finally, because one should eat more veggies than just padron peppers, we got a side of mushrooms ($50). I thought they weren't all that exciting or flavorful. Last time I got mushrooms at a Spanish place, Numero 15, I thought they were a fair bit better.

I didn't dislike the food here; it was all competently executed, but two things really stand out. First, there are lots of Spanish places in Hong Kong, and this just wasn't as good as the competition, in my opinion. The second is that it seemed rather pricey. I don't have the receipt, but adding up the prices on the menu, we paid about $700 for food (w/ service charge) and then another $300 for a carafe of sangria (because I remember we paid more than $1,000 for two people). I'm pretty sure I could get better service in a nicer environment, and better food, for less. And speaking of environment, the place just felt a little dark and empty.

So, no, I won't be coming back. I don't hate you Isono, you're just not all that.

呢日我由朋友介紹去PMQ元創方處食野,今日是星期日,由於我地未曾來過,我地人行7人一早已預約訂台了,由PMQ門口一入去,就發現好多得意鋪頭,我地一路行一路睇,去到大樓搭lift。原來有專lift, 搭lift 直上就去到了。見到呢間餐廳裝修好靚,由門口去到大堂有個接待處,後面有好似酒吧+梳化既佈置,望落去好舒服。跟住再過一個門口入到餐廳,入面好大,分別好整齊。中間位置係有餐台、有水吧,旁邊有服務台,至於餐廳側面是幾間獨立既VIP Room,VIP 房係有玻璃門,可用作隔音,窗邊可望到對面PMQ另一大樓,又有陽光好正。當我們望住個menu,餐廳預備了好幾款set lunch 比客人揀,有3 course or 4 courses,當然可以另外點菜,但我眼見set lunch 都已經好吸引,由於我地有一班人,所以可以試到好多樣野食。前菜係Parma Ham, 我真係未試餐廳會比甘多Ham係碟上面,好抵食。另一款係油金魚剌身,都幾甜美。跟住來到主菜喇,先講肉碎闊條麵,味道不算太濃,適中ok。跟住就到個海鮮炒飯,呢款菜式係一定要雙位數量的落單才可以,即是2位落單或4位。呢個海鮮炒飯味道一流,不

前菜係Parma Ham, 我真係未試餐廳會比甘多Ham係碟上面,好抵食。另一款係油金魚剌身,都幾甜美。跟住來到主菜喇,先講肉碎闊條麵,味道不算太濃,適中ok。跟住就到個海鮮炒飯,呢款菜式係一定要雙位數量的落單才可以,即是2位落單或4位。呢個海鮮炒飯味道一流,不太油膩,但吾似意大利飯甘黏,相對比較稀,感覺易入口,幾好味。仲有個煎三文魚千層麵,味道似肉碎闊條麵差不多。

跟住要介紹既係以"Tagliata"意式烤牛扒做法,上檯時牛扒已切成一塊塊,medium rare,肉質呈嫩紅色,肉質非常腍嫩,入口牛肉味道香濃。但食呢類煮法既牛扒,食落口有些感覺似食緊中式既叉燒,哈哈。

去到食甜品喇,首先介紹呢杯係Cream Foam, 好特別, 似食忌廉泡泡。個雪糕仲得意,效係水上面游下游下甘,正。再叫左一個好大碟既蘋果批既甜品,真係要幾個人一齊大大口食,好飽滿。整體來講,呢間餐廳值得去試下,無論裝修、氣氛至食物質數都有一定水準。而價錢方面,人頭約250-300左右啦,合理。

Located on the sixth floor of Soho's very own arts precent, PMQ, ISONO eatery and bar shares many of the same traits as its more distinguished older brother. The menu was created by Executive Chef Paolo Casagrande, drawn from his memories and experiences as a child in the Mediterranean. If you're not familiar with Paolo Casagrande, his main game is at the Two Michelin starred Lasarte in Barcelona, but he lends his expertise and name to both Vasco and ISONO.

We'd been eyeing off checking out ISONO for a while, but it took one of those serendipitous moments to eventually get us in for dinner. We were at a genuine loss one night walking home from work.... We simply had no idea about what we felt like for dinner and were getting a little frustrated trying to pin down one restaurant to visit. It just so happened that we were walking along Hollywood Road and only a few steps away from the PMQ. With no reservation, we hedged our bets that we'd be able to score a table as a walk in.

Our gamble paid off!

After we were shown to our table and given our menus to look over, I was taken by the cool and funky interior of ISONO. With a semi industrial feel to the space, which was centred around an open bar, the dining room felt like a spot that you'd be happy hanging out at for drinks after work or a quick bite to eat from the tapas menu. I guess it was perfect for our needs. I also loved the open space that had a clear ceiling that showed off some of the skyscrapers around Hong Kong and leant a very cosmopolitan feel to the space.

We selected half a dozen items off the menu that provided a good cross selection of your typical Mediterranean cuisine. The interesting thing about the menu was the ability to order a regular size, which was suitable for two people, or the large size targeted at larger groups. While we waited for our meal to commence, a loaf of warm and very crusty bread was delivered with a deep bowl of Spanish olive oil for dipping. It took all of my willpower not to completely fill up on the oh-so-comforting warm bread.

As is the case with tapas, our food came out in quick succession, starting with the beef tartare with organic egg and truffle mayonnaise. I quite liked the presentation, which saw the neatly piled ground beef surrounded by toasted bread that seemed to stand guarding the lightly salted egg yolk that sat on the beef. There were chopped condiments like gherkin and onions already mixed within the beef, so all we had to do was mix in the creamy yolk and we were good to go. The beef was clearly high grade with a slightly sweet flavour and it was very enjoyable. We did have a little bit of a problem though, there were only five sliced of the crusty toast to share, so a sixth piece might have worked better with just the two of us.

A thinly sliced sheet of Iberico chorizo was delivered at the same time as the tartare, presented on a bread board that had the distinctive ISONO branding stamped at one end. I'm a big fan of Chorizo, but I normally prefer thick chunks of the sweet sausage grilled and hot. It's something I'd have to reconsider after sampling this amazing chorizo, which as soft on the palate and super sweet with a hint of heat. It was so thin, that instead of using a fork to eat, I just slid my knife under each round and jammed them into my mouth with increasing frequency and urgency. Yeah, that chorizo was superb.

We'd been going for all the classics and up next was the chargrilled octopus with chunky mashed potatoes, tomato, dates and piquillo pepper sauce. Like chorizo, I have a particular love of octopus, especially when prepared with potato. I think I'd been too distracted with the chorizo, as by the time I started munching on the octopus, the potato foam had cooled a little and was a bit gluggy. The tentacles of the octopus had been sliced to the right thickness and were extremely well cooked, and very tasty. There was a decent hit of heat from the bright red piquillo pepper sauce and a little acidity from the slices of cherry tomato. We had a deal, the girl ate the potato and spicy sauce and I munched on the delicious octopus pieces.

Main was the Australian Wagyu ribeye, which was served with a triple cooked chips and chargrilled baby corn as sides. The steak was served in an unusual way, it was super thin, like it had been rolled flat, then sliced into thin ready-to-eat strips. The beef itself was quite nice, but it was a little under seasoned and a little on the cool side, as if it had rested for a little too long. The chips looked quite nice, with a lovely golden colour, but when we started munching, they were actually soft and didn't have that crispness that signifies great chips. What was amazing though was the chargrilled baby corn, which were bathed in butter and tasted superb, especially the overly charred bits.

We were in a bit of a rush to get home, and there was nothing on the dessert menu that jumped up and said 'eat me - eat-me-now', so we decided to skip something sweet to end the meal.

I'm finding that there is a big divide in restaurants in Hong Kong, there are those that are just super hard to get into and busy all the time, and those that have the feeling that they could be super popular, but just don't have the same pulling power. ISONO felt like it fit into that second category, the food was pretty good, but the dining room just didn't get that busy. Now, that may be an issue of timing, we do tend to eat a little earlier than the typical Hong Konger, but we are seeing quite a few dining spots where there are plenty of tables available.

I think that ISONO would be a great spot if you wanted to have a few drinks and some tapas to accompany, but I wasn't completely sold on the main course or the chips. Unlike our experience at Vasco, which was faultless, there were just a few elements that didn't quite work. Service was acceptable, the staff friendly, but were a little listless, like a team just going through the motions and I didn't feel the love.

Yeah, the tapas was good enough to head back to ISONO for, but I'm not sure I'd stay for mains. I think the next time I go, it would be with a larger group for snacking.

The Modern European themed menu is something new to my dining partner here but as long as she's enjoying the ambiance, no complaints there. And no complaint from me too as the 4-course set only set me back at $248 per head, which I considered a pretty good bargain at this day and age.

Fresh Japanese hamachi with tomato, capers, olive and red onion dressing, that was the way I started things off this afternoon. The hamachi wasn't the freshest but I liked the chopped tomatoes, capers and olive providing a nice complicated mix of flavors and just the right amount of acidity. Not bad (Grade: 3/5).

I followed up my hamachi with a nice bowl of homemade tagliatelle topped with Bolognese sauce. You could tell the tagliatelle was really fresh and the bite was perfectly al dente, the way we all like it (Grade: 3.5/5).

They've turned it up a notch from this point on starting with our first main course, slow-cooked suckling pig shank which was nicely prepared along with a bed of mashed potatoes, some chorizo and chives (Grade: 3.5/5).

Personally, I thought this was the best dish of the afternoon - Catalan cream foam with pineapple and toffee ice-cream. Love the Catalan cream foam on top that worked so well with the fresh pineapple cubes and toffee ice-cream on the bottom. Just wish it could be a little bigger in size (Grade: 4/5)!

I thought the food was good but the service was largely inconsistent. We've got a server who's always wearing a smile on his face and was totally spotless throughout the meal and at the same time, there's this guy that looked as if he has lost his whole fortune on a football game last night. Very contrasting "style" shall we say.

Located at P M Q at Sheung Wan, mounting up to this mid level area was not easy under this sunny weather. When I arrived Isono, I was all sweating. But when the door was opened, its high ceiling and those natural sunlight shining through really amazed me.

Very frankly telling that I was alone instead of coming with my companion today, the servers somehow showed their empathy and provided a lot warmer service. Having reserved the sofa seat, it was particularly nice to slighted soak up the sunlight which shined through the windows.

Finally got myself settled and prepared to be self-entertained at this lunch, the bread arrived just in time.

Baguette (3.5/5)

Single variety in the bucket. Baguette was steaming hot and soft inside, but the crust was a bit too hard to chew. Olive oil was extra virgin and I liked the grassy flavor overflowing in my mouth. A so-so start.

Fresh Japanese Hamachi w/ Tomato, Capers, Olive & Red Onion Dressing (3.5/5)

Opting for a cold appetizer that could chill myself up from summer heat, I chose the sliced Hamachi. This fresh sashimi went so smoothly even with just olive oil and salt. However, adding tomato mashes and capers freshens the dish with a tinge of acidity. If to pinpoint this appetizer gave a tad too oily finish, with a real layer of oil painted on the dish.

Green Pea Soup w/ Squid & Black Ink (4/5)

Green Pea has brought a lot of bad impression to Hongkongers esp. kids as those frozen peas at grocery store tasted so….bad.

This sandy and viscous soup however was far sweeter and veggy than I expected. The soup was at first all green when served, and it was so fun to mix it with the dirty ink underneath.

Double-cooked Beef Short Ribs w/ Grilled Seasonal Vegetables (3.5/5)

Was around 60% full when the main was served (though I had requested to slower down the pace). The short ribs were actually layered with melting fats and collagens and juicy, but I was just too full to finish all. I did enjoy the creamy potato mash (in small portion).

Catalan Cream Foam w/ Pineapple & Toffee Ice-cream (2.5/5)

Catalan Cream is another name for Crème Brulee. This foamy presentation was not that appealing to me with its rougher mouthfeel, which differed so much from what a crème brulee should like. It was too monotonous and milky with the toffee ice cream and the pineapples dices were too few to establish an acidic backbone from this sweet dessert.

Service at Isono was warm and friendly. Servers were proactive to start a conversation with you whenever they passed by. They missed the food order twice but had quick followup though.

Isono would be a cozy venue for an easy brunch or family gathering with affordable cost but comfortable environment. The happy hour drinks and tapas are good for your pocket and nice to enjoy at its artistic round bar area.

跟餐附餐茶一杯,點了熱檸水,無甚特別,所以無映相了!
係呢個地段呢個環境咁既服務加上高質素食物,埋單只係每人$180 ,個人認為係超值的!

生日午餐, 來到這個PMQ 6樓的餐廳6 樓的 Isono 跟7 樓的 Vasco 是同一個集團的, 兩層打通食不同國藉的菜 中午的Isono 沒什麼人, 室內設計型格, 而且樓底好高, 空間感十足, 室外光自然透入是跟朋友在這裡 hea 半天的好去處 但酒吧頂上有一個小閣樓層, 是Vasco 的其中一間包房, 不過我不覺得有多好....沒有落地玻璃隔音, 晚上食飯, 不覺得自成一閣, 反而比7樓其他位置嘈吧?! 餐廳自製的餐前麵包 ,遞上來仍是熱香的。外表有夠脆, 配上他們用精緻的醋同橄欖油食用, 胃口大開了Marinated Scottish Salmon Tartare w/ Beetroot, Cucumber and Yogurt頗欣賞佢地用cucumber and yogurt 打成泡沫, 感覺似份子料理 連紅菜頭, 水果及三文魚食 , 很特別的配合Smoked Duck Breast w/ Apple, Baby Spinach & Cranberry Sauce Cranberry Sauce 可以多一點... 鴨胸是跟蘋果及sauce很夾, 但只有少少的份量真的不夠s

Cranberry Sauce 可以多一點... 鴨胸是跟蘋果及sauce很夾, 但只有少少的份量真的不夠serve.

Sea-bream 煎得很好, 皮仍是脆的, 而且薯蓉打得跟 cream 一樣, 可以做魚的sauce! 只是真的覺得portion 好細, 男仕一定覺得這個 main course 不夠飽

Australian Beef Tagliata, Rocket Salad with Shaved Parmesan and Balsamic Dressing 
幸好先問了侍應才決定幾多成熟, 我們叫了 5 成, 原來扒身很薄, 7成很易煎得太硬了 
另外他們是切好的上, 很方面食用呢 
五成剛好又juicy! 加上海鹽及 mustard, 還有他們新鮮的火箭菜及芝士, 味道很好!

Homemade Sorbet : Chocolate, Mandarin & Mango, Strawberry

一客有三大球,果味很真沒有香精味, 但我覺得3 種味道都太濃, 互搶味道, 不是真的很夾

Catalan Cream Foam with Pineapple & Toffee Ice-cream
是全餐最好味的一道!!

有燉蛋的微甜香氣,打成泡沫一般, 質感一點都不膩,襯上底下的菠蘿及拖肥雪糕,很好味!
