Every few months, we tend to enjoy to dine here. Of course we will make reservation for the window seats. The restaurant is set up with Indian decorations and old wooden furniture, facing the Central Police Station Compound @ Hollywood Road. Although they may only have minimal food options, but since Indian food tends to be very filling ... therefore, it's really enough. You get two drinks with your meal, for the first drink, I picked Mango Lassi, and my brother picked a Beer. Then ends the meal with a tea/coffee.

As for the buffet, there are Samosa, Lamb Kebab, Tandoori Chicken, Curry Lamb, Etc.

LASTLY I MUST SAY WHY IT'S NOT AS GOOD AS BEFORE ........ NOT COS OF THEIR TASTE (AS THEY ARE JUST AS TASTY) ...... BUT ALL THE FOOD WERE NOT WARM (NOT EVEN SAYING HOT OR NOT!!!!) ..... THEY DID LIT UP UNDER EACH STATION ..... BUT NONE OF THE FOOD, EXCEPT THE FISH WAS WARM ENOUGH!!!!

We had seen Jashan while having a drink at Barolo across the street on Hollywood Road. We popped in a week ago, but without a reservation we couldn't be seated, so we made a reservation for Friday (highly recommended). I really liked the decor and atmosphere of Jashan and the manager is very friendly.So...I have to say that the service is marginal at best, although there was a big group dinner of regulars next to us - about 20 - that were absorbing a lot of the wait staff. So...I have to say that the service is marginal at best, although there was a big group dinner of regulars next to us - about 20 - that were absorbing a lot of the wait staff. We waited almost 10 minutes for a drink order to be taken. We were told they had poori, but it is not available there, which was a disappointment to our kids - it is their favorite. The samosas were tasty and the onion bhaji were a hit as well.

Main course was chicken saag which was fine but not great. The lamb in the rogan jhosh was a bit fatty and the gravy a bit bland. THe chicken tikka masala was passable, but not extraordinary. Also had garlic naan and aloo paratha which were very good.

We have now been to Tandoor, Bombay Dreams and Jashan. I think Tandoor is the best of the three and Jashan second as it is more reasonable than Bombay Dreams and the food is equal. If you visit you won't be disappointed, but it won't be the best you've ever had.

I’ve not had many curries since arriving in Hong Kong but I woke this morning feeling fuggy (the start of a head cold) so decided to blast away the germs with something hot and spicy. With no particular restaurant in mind, the family and I headed over to the Island and up the escalator towards Soho. On hitting Hollywood road we noticed Jashan and decided to give it a whirl.

Lunch is a buffet-only affair, which was a little disappointing as I had my heart set on something laden with chili like a Jalferezi. Having said that, there was a decent choice of pretty tasty dishes. From memory, there were veggie samosas, shami kebabs, tandoori chicken, vegetable pakora and onion salad as appetizers – all good. Fish, lamb, and two chicken curries, with a choice of plain or pilaf rice. Finally, sag paneer, dhal, spiced potatoes and a mushroom dish completed the savory options. There were three sweets – a rice pudding type dish (kheer?), those very sweet fried dumplings that make my teeth itch thinking about them, and fresh watermelon.

My wife thought that the dhal and sag paneer were highlights. I tend to agree – the dhal had a creamy texture and was subtly spiced, while the sag paneer was light and simple – a perfect foil to the rich curries. I also thought the lamb curry was rather good – tender meat, comforting rich curry sauce with a little bit of a kick. My only gripe is that the heat levels (in terms of both Scoville and Celsius) could have been a little higher.

Décor was reassuringly garish with somewhat feeble Christmas trinkets dotted around, but comfortably spaced tables, clean front of house and friendly attentive service makes for an overall excellent experience. And at HK$98 a head (+ service) for all you can eat, one standard drink and a cup of (revolting, in my view, but the wife liked it) Masala chai, it’s very good value.

it's my second time in a indian restaurant and i must say its not as good as the previous one. i've ordered mango lassi ,tandoori chicken ,mutton briyani.....and lots more.. My comment about mango lassi is :i think mango lassi is made form fresh mango but the lassi here didnt had any taste...i told one of the waiter here but he didnt even bothred to listen...i was very dissapointed by this . and i also think the price here is much more expensive than other restaurants.i think the service must be

I like Jashan's lunch buffet and here's why: they make a mean mango lassi which is included in the $98 lunch buffet (+10% service charge) that is one of the best and most refreshing fruit smoothies I've ever had in an Indian restaurant. Their butter chicken sauce (but not so much the actual chicken as it appeared a little undercooked) rocks my world as I greedily ladled it over my basmati rice and garlic naan. Their butter chicken sauce (but not so much the actual chicken as it appeared a little undercooked) rocks my world as I greedily ladled it over my basmati rice and garlic naan. It was nice that the sauce was actually spicy as I noticed most Indian restaurants in Hong Kong are hesitant to add the real spice and punch which is the trademark for Indian cuisine. The chicken saag was also well done with the pureed spinach having a delightfully umami flavour to it. This also went well with my perfectly cooked basmati rice. The other curry selections were passable, but a bit too runny and similar to all the other curries on their spread for my taste, but a shout-out to their samosas which are excellent when they've just left the fryer. Everything was fresh and the surroundings appeared clean. In comparison to Bombay Dreams which also includes a freshly made free roti and individual sauce garnishes on one's table, Jashan had a smaller selection but the food tasted better. Also memorable was the spicy potato, cucumber and tomato salad with a nice acidic twang to it. All in all, I will return in the future. It's a shame that I haven't been able to stuff myself to the extent that I liked since I was full after the second helping. A word of caution and the only disappointment was that I had been dehydratingly thirsty after my meal, if they could go easy on the msg or lay it off altogether, then it would be close to an A-. Also, it would be better if they could speed up on their service in terms of delivering the fresh naan on one's table, since it took about 15 minutes into the meal before my bread came. On this front, Bombay Dreams since their naan was fresher and fluffier, not to mention piping hot. Worth checking out if you're in the area and is craving some decent Indian cuisine.

This Indian restaurant was rated Big Gourmand by Michelin 2009. My friends and I were not particularly interested in Indian food. But we decided to give it a try because of Michelin. Tangy potatoes in pastry shells. Pretty good. 3 stars.

Thandai $32

An almond based homely made refesher, based on pure milk and crushed almond. Very good. I like it. 4 stars.

Jaljeera $28

Jal Jeera is an Indian beverage. In Hindi, "Jal" means water and "Jeera" means cumin. Jal Jeera is similar to lemonade and is a popular summer drink in India. It is generally served as an appetizer as it is intended to startle the taste buds. The Cumin is a medicinal ingredient which aids digestion. The mint has a cooling effect on the consumer. One of the main ingredients is black salt or rock salt which acts as a digestive. 2 stars.

Tandoori jhinga $68/pc

Clay oven roasted king prawn $68/pc. Plump and fresh king prawns refreshingly marinated in citric blend of lemon juice, ajwain and green cardamon, wrapped with sesame seeds. As expected, it is not as fresh as Chinese cooking. Still acc
eptable. 3 stars.

Palak Paneer $64

Purred spinach with cottage cheese. 3 stars.

Rogan Josh $89

Kashmiri lamb curry. The rogan and josh refer to the rich colour which is achieved by using a combination of mild and bright kashmiri chillies and the juice extract from a brightly coloured root stem ratin jot, alkanet. Pretty good for a lamb curry, as I usually don't eat lamb. 3 stars.

Kashmiri Naan $28

Dry fruits studded naan. Very good for kids. 3 stars.

Tandoori mix grill $168

Assortment of chicken, lamb kebabs and fish. Taste of lamb is too strong. Fish is not the way Chinese like. We don't like it. 1 star.

Pulao rice $40

Saffron flavoured rice. We don't like it. 1 star.

Masala Dosa $58

Thin lentil crispy pancake stuffed with the famous 'temperedpotatos' served with lentil vegatable curry and coconut chutney. 3 star.

Kesari Kulfi $38

Indian thickened saffron, nut and milk icecream. A very different type of cold desert, siimilar to icecream, but not really icecream. Should try. 4 stars.

To conclude, I may go again for the Thandai drink and some snacks. But very unlikely for lunch nor supper.

Came here with a group of friends today around 1:30 - managed to snag the last table, so no waiting. There were quite a few faces which seemed to hail from the Indian subcontinent, so that seemed like a good sign for authentic Indian food!We had the lunch buffet for $98, and this included a choice of 2 salads, about 8 curries, 4 appetizers/roast meat selections, 2 desserts, fresh naan and rice. We had the lunch buffet for $98, and this included a choice of 2 salads, about 8 curries, 4 appetizers/roast meat selections, 2 desserts, fresh naan and rice.

I was most impressed with the naan - it came out finger-burning temperature and very aromatic. The lamb rogan josh, butter chicken and the samosas were also nice. The samosas had a nice skin, which, as another foodie has mentioned below, is not the normal thin spring roll skin.

Service was quite acceptable by the staff, but what really helped makes service stand out was the friendly manager. We had asked for more naan, but the waitresses had forgotten, and so he went and got it for us himself.

Overall, I think this is pretty good for a lunch buffet, given the price and the quality of the food. Normally, I prefer all you can eat over buffets because the food gets cold and/or overcooked, but this wasn't such a problem here.

四個都是不嗜甜﹑胃廷小的人,在吃這一環也要嚐嚐新的,下午我們走到中環吃印度自助餐。雖然美食琳琅滿目,我們亦都饞嘴貪吃;可是不一會已捧腹,就連吃西瓜也招架不來。芝士菠菜~~深綠色搗碎壓成的菠菜茸,買相雖然倒胃,可是吃不出纖維,亦沒有菠菜的草青和澀口;很好吃,值得一試!瑪沙拉羊肉~~羊很腍又有輕微可接受的羶香,蓋上的瑪沙拉汁又甜又酸又辣,很惹味奶油芝士雞肉~~雞肉用乳酪及忌廉醃得嫩滑鬆軟完全入味,送飯一流!炒飯~~用真正的印度米,沒有中式炒飯的油膩,香料味足沒甚麼材料,爽軟乾身,拌入咖哩汁同吃,仍然出色咖哩角~~很大隻,被我們喻為〝福袋〞入面袋有馬鈴薯和豆,重咖哩味,外層卜卜脆又不太油膩naan 烤餅~~抺走小小黑糊糊的碳灰後,沾著真正的精華-->咖哩醬汁一起吃,yummy!要緊趁熱吃,否則凍了便不鬆軟反而韌炸煉奶球~~內面浸泡滿煉乳外塗蜜糖,咬一口像索了煉乳的海棉球般,讓人甜到頭皮發麻。

闊別幾年,今日重來,lunch buffet 比之前差咗DD,可能要就老外口味,因>9成食客係老外,但都好食的Salad的選擇只有兩款,比之前少咗。咖喱種類算齊,香料夠但不算辣,我最愛的芝士波菜咖喱依然好味烤羊和雞都不錯,係D雞濕咗少少杯mango lassi可以傑少少,但都ok

I had dinner with my parents last week. The lamb samosa (~HK$40) is freshly prepared and authentic - it is made of pastry like wrapping instead the "spring roll" wrapping in other Hong Kong restaurants. The fish tikka (~HK$108) is superb. 4 big chunks of mackerels served on hot sizzling plate giving out the aroma of fish. The fish is fresh with no fishy smell and very tasty.The mud pot lamb curry (~HK$85) is tasty. The lamb is tender and the sauce made of tomato and herbs is great with rice

The mud pot lamb curry (~HK$85) is tasty. The lamb is tender and the sauce made of tomato and herbs is great with rice.

The lamb fried rice (~HK$80) is also wonderful. It has a lot of tender lamb chunks and with special kinds of herbs that distinguish it from cantonese fried rice. Impressive.

The tandoori chicken (~HK$90) is the most ordinary with no surprises. Yet it is OK.

Our group was a random mix of Chinese, Indian, Singaporean and Filipino.... so the 6 of us came for dinner. The waitress were diligent in pouring water (from jug at no extra cost, don't like places that force you to drink pricey bottled water), taking our orders and changing our plates. You get a small kidney-shaped dish for the appetizers, which fits into the lesser curve of a bigger plate for the main courses... so it makes a full ellipsoid shape. The place is decked out in indian style wit

For food, we had:

Appetisers: -
veggie and lamb samosa (4 large pieces of each), pepper chicken (tasty, tender chicken pieces), salad-e-sharazi (or something, just really plain cucumbers, tomatos, onions and a few pieces of lettuce)

Mains: -
prawn vindaloo (hot and spicy, prawns are decenty fresh), chicken tikka masala (yumm), rogan josh (yumm, tender meat), lamb madras (yumm yumm), fish curry (ok, fish a bit dry, probably frozen fillets), okra (yumm), eggplant (yumm), palak paneer (yummmmmmm), bread basket (various types of naan, roti and paratha, enough for 6), and 2 basmatic rice to share.

Dessert: -
masala tea or a black coffee for one diehard fan who can't sleep without caffeine, and a Kulfi (indian icecream, served with some pistachio) to share.

On top of that we had 2 bottles of white, which was decent and refreshing on the palate after so much spice. Quite cheap considering we were carrying our bellies out at the end of the meal.

由於跳舞老師係印度人, 所以成日都會接觸到d印度餐廳, 都食過唔少味既印度菜雖然我去過jashan只係2次, 但果度既環境同埋食物水準真係good架, 唔知佢算唔算正宗喇, 但起碼o岩我地d香港人口味, 因為有幾個朋友都話好食尋晚有part起果度, 叫左好多食物, 有samosa, 炸雜菜, 印度薄餅, 炒飯, ladies finger, 蝦, 羊, 雞, mango lassi.....多到唔記得有咩喇最好味係個羊同蝦, d汁都好好味, 可以用nann去點黎食, 個mango lassi好有芒果味, 唔似其他印度餐廳咁稀順帶一提, 果度既環境都幾舒服, 個經理係杜拜人黎架, 不過好nice, 話下次我地去, 會比discount我地喎, 尋晚佢nice到自己做埋mc, 好好笑唯一有少許不足之處, 可能我地太多人喇, 個waiter唔係點斟水比我地, 唔識自動加水囉

雖然我去過jashan只係2次, 但果度既環境同埋食物水準真係good架, 唔知佢算唔算正宗喇, 但起碼o岩我地d香港人口味, 因為有幾個朋友都話好食
尋晚有part起果度, 叫左好多食物, 有samosa, 炸雜菜, 印度薄餅, 炒飯, ladies finger, 蝦, 羊, 雞, mango lassi.....多到唔記得有咩喇
最好味係個羊同蝦, d汁都好好味, 可以用nann去點黎食, 個mango lassi好有芒果味, 唔似其他印度餐廳咁稀

順帶一提, 果度既環境都幾舒服, 個經理係杜拜人黎架, 不過好nice, 話下次我地去, 會比discount我地喎, 尋晚佢nice到自己做埋mc, 好好笑

唯一有少許不足之處, 可能我地太多人喇, 個waiter唔係點斟水比我地, 唔識自動加水囉

Went there last Wednesday. The restaurant manager was very nice. Food was great especially the butter chicken. I went with few Middle East Indian friends and they all liked it very much. Service was superb and ambience is nice.

這餐廳充滿異國情調,但是否印度情調我就不知道,因我沒有去過印度。食物價錢合理,大部份都不超過$100。食物有一定水準,值得一試。服務不錯,尤其是經理,經常保持親切的笑容。他也很懂做生意,有一次我去到時已滿座,他為表歉意,送了我一張$50的coupon。

作客。Jashan 的Lunch Buffet,一直以來最教我欣賞的,是它能用最少菜的數量,弄出最多最花巧的菜式:三小盤cold appetizers(都係近沙律類)外,有十款脆炸、熱葷、甜品恭恭敬敬的在五個熱籠中安置好,還有數款fresh fruit cut;雖然自助餐吧的配置,感覺不大骨子,但它「組件」的方法和心思,倒是教人稱賞的。每檯每人附送的papadam 和naan / garlic naan,果真「伴食」,不以為然。叫的Masala Tea 也是普通貨勁:味蕾差一點的,會以為是普通奶茶一杯。最愛的,仍是那震撼的原隻燒羊腿,同紅黃綠、雞牛羊俱備的咖喱吧。謝謝!
