這天下午不知道為什麼很想吃 All Day Breakfast,但又不想去 Flying Pan 或是 Brunch Club,所以就在 OpenRice 看看還有什麼地方吃得到。發現了在中環 L’Place 有一家叫 The Salted Pig 的餐廳裡可以吃得到,它開張了才兩個月,於是便跟朋友一起去試一下。我們這天兩點多才去,客人都差不多走光了,還好三點鐘才是他們的 Last Order。我們被安排了坐在窗邊的位置,可以享受被那柔柔的陽光照著的感覺,蠻舒服的。我們坐下後先點了兩杯 Mocktail。我點的是 Kiwi Amore,我喝了一口就喜歡上它了。它將切成了一絲絲的奇異果,跟檸檬汁一起加進一杯蘇打裡面,又清甜,又解渴,好喝。朋友叫的 Mocktail 我忘了叫什麼名字,是一杯加了牛奶的香蕉汁,再帶著很少很少很小的辣椒味,也是蠻好喝的,味道比較甜,質感厚厚的,但我還是比較喜歡我點的 Kiwi Amore。:)我的前菜是 Potted Salmon,是用了新鮮肥美的三文魚的 Salmon Tartare,並混合了 dill 和 capers 在裡面,跟放在上面的 parsley

我們坐下後先點了兩杯 Mocktail。
我點的是 Kiwi Amore,我喝了一口就喜歡上它了。
它將切成了一絲絲的奇異果,跟檸檬汁一起加進一杯蘇打裡面,
又清甜,又解渴,好喝。

朋友叫的 Mocktail 我忘了叫什麼名字,
是一杯加了牛奶的香蕉汁,再帶著很少很少很小的辣椒味,
也是蠻好喝的,味道比較甜,質感厚厚的,
但我還是比較喜歡我點的 Kiwi Amore。:)

我的前菜是 Potted Salmon,
是用了新鮮肥美的三文魚的 Salmon Tartare,
並混合了 dill 和 capers 在裡面,
跟放在上面的 parsley 跟 sour cream 一起吃,
份外鮮甜清新,
那酸酸的味道更刺激起我的食慾。
如果將旁邊香脆的 toast 同時放進口裡,
感覺有點不一樣,會有一種讓我停不了口的感覺。

朋友點的前菜是 Beetroot Salad with Homemade Cheese,
一個好吃的沙拉,不只要有新鮮的蔬菜,dressing 也是同樣的重要,
我覺得這個沙拉完全符合一個好吃的沙拉的要求。
鮮甜的 蕃茄 和 紅菜頭(Beetroot)跟 爽脆的 Baby Spinach,
配著那帶著淡淡香味的芝士,
吃下去會有一種很好吃,也很健康的感覺。
每一口都帶著那很香的橄欖油的味道,
再加上有一點點的黑胡椒來調味,
一流。

至於主菜,
我們選擇 Share 一份 All Day Breakfast 還有 一份 Grilled Sausage。

先說說 Grilled Sausage(烤香腸),
口感軟軟的,味道香濃,卻不會有膩的感覺,
是有水準的烤香腸。
那甜甜的洋蔥 Gravy,更令這道菜更出色。
可是芥末薯泥就比較普通,
是味道偏甜,牛油味挺重的薯泥。

然後就是 All Day Breakfast,
裡面有 Poached Egg,煙肉,烤香腸,烤蕃茄 跟 Bubble n’ Squeak。
這是一個蠻好吃的 All Day Breakfast,
Poached Egg 能夠做得到流心,
烤蕃茄 也鮮甜多汁,
而 Bubble n’ Squeak 也煎的很香口,
是有馬鈴薯粒,煙肉 和 洋蔥 的 Omelette。

但當我們吃到一半的時候,
想了很久,好像是不是少了什麼東西,
原來是烤蘑菇不見了,
我們跟店員說一下,他們便立刻烤一顆蘑菇給我們。
服務很不錯,可是我覺得廚師們要再多專注一點,
不要再犯這些不必要的錯誤。

基本上,
這家餐廳給我的感覺不錯,
環境蠻舒服,食物跟服務也很好,
有機會一定回來吃一下它的晚餐,
也要再喝它的 Kiwi Amore。:)

Walking into the restaurant, the decor reminded me of a warehouse style feel with rustic cooking pots aligning the walls and an open kitchen. I was with my prettier half as well as another couple and we all agreed the menu was a little underwhelming with not so many choices which although can be a good thing, didn't have anything that jumped off the page and screamed order me.

We went for the mixed cold cuts platter to start. This was available in a one to four man option and because we were quite hungry and only 2 men and 2 ladies we ordered the dish for 4.

As you can see from the image this was meant to be a mouthwatering selection of cold cuts, homemade terrine, potted pork, scotch eggs, pickles and piccalilli.

While we waited were given bread rolls with butter as well as table water.

In all honesty the platter was a bit hit and miss. While the Scotch eggs, the chorizo and the pickles all were winners, the other cold cuts including the ham and the salami, the terrine and the potted pork were unforgettable. The potted pork was a little too salty and looked like mush on the board. The six tiny triangles of bread were also a little measly and slightly stale too.

Overall the presentation of the starter was very rustic, fitting in with the whole ethos of the Salted Pig, however, as previously mentioned the dollop of mushy potted pork was an eyesore on the dish. The platter itself was adequate in size and I will award it 6/10, helped by an excellent Scotch egg.

For the main course we ordered the pork knuckle with sauerkraut, carrots, potatoes and a creamy mustard sauce.

First thing to say is the portions are very big. One pork knuckle between two people is more than enough. Now I have had many a pork knuckle, particularly served in some of the restaurants frequented by our Bavarian cousins. I have to say this knocks the socks of these other pretenders and was really an excellent dish, particularly for the meat lovers amongst us. The pork had a pink hue which I found other pork knuckles I had eaten previously did not and although a little more salty was succulent and juicy with the right mix of fatty parts and fleshy bits. The potatoes were cooked well and had a nice minty taste, the carrots were soft without being mushy and the creamy mustard sauce was an ok if somewhat too mild and watery accompaniment.

Overall I have to award high marks to the dish because I could not really fault it. Cooked perfectly and generous portions so I will give this dish a 9/10.

I would recommend the Salted Pig, especially if you are a meat lover looking for their carnivorous fix. A couple of other dishes on the menu may be worth trying and I will definitely go back and sample them and let you know my thoughts.

Beetroot salad with homemade cheese。beetroot 比平常買到的鮮甜,而這裡的homemade cheese 有點像cream cheese。salad 裡面還有baby spinach 和roasted tomato,番茄味道細膩酸甜有致,加上olive oil dressing,整個salad的味道配合得恰到好處。友人點的是potted salmon,混合了parsley和dill等等香草的salmon tartare,配上烤得香脆的toast來吃,味道清新。左邊的是grilled sausages,豬肉香腸的味道香濃不膩,配上甜甜的onion gravy來吃更加完美。mustard potato mash有點偏甜,但帶有很重的牛油味。右邊的是all day breakfast,香腸是一樣的,poached egg煮得剛好,一刀切開蛋汁便徐徐流出。還有推介的是kiwi mocktail,蘇打水裡面有切碎了的奇異果肉和檸檬汁,非常的好喝。

早了點來到,四周的影影拍拍。這裡除了走Casual Dining路線外,還有另一個「賣點」,就是採用法國名牌子的Le Creuest的廚具,雖然對味道沒有直接幫助,但色彩繽紛的,也是吸引,相信此品牌的粉絲Oli會十分喜歡。

這裡的午餐都是2-course,收費百多元,在中環來說,取價也算合理。選了一款沙律大家分享,其實一看已覺很新鮮,又的確,有機的沙律菜是爽脆,蕃茄鮮甜又色彩繽紛,紅菜頭清甜,還有柔軟又帶有淡淡香味的芝士,整件事感覺很清新和健康。

頭盤就揀了Terrine,是自家製作的,豬肉肥瘦很均勻,混入了開心果粒,邊位則圍了火腿,似模似樣。吃起來,口感柔軟,味帶甘香,亦沒有很漏的感覺,即使不配麵包同吃,也是可以。

另外,要來款烤香腸,一碟三條,烤得夠香,肉餡是免治豬肉,肉味幾濃郁,也比較軟身,味道是對辦,醬汁gravy也不錯,但正如Oli所講,會稍為喜歡吃有點彈性的香腸,總覺口感會實在一點,不過,這已是合格以上的分數。

主菜是Pork Burger,事實更似三文治,落單時侍者說明中間的肉餡屬暖身,如需要可以加熱,服務是窩心的,但我決定就原本的做法就可以了。包身是十分軟熟,豬肉絲、洋蔥等內餡吃起來帶點酸,更為開胃,而且味道尚佳,水準十分之高,是值得推介的一項。

跟餐的甜品是Carrot Cake,我倆對此興趣不大,索性問服務生拿個甜品餐牌,選到合心水為止。先來一杯白朱古力慕思為主的甜品,幾濃郁好吃,當中混入了草莓粒,感覺更為清新,只恨份量太細,不夠喉。

另一味就是朱古力檸檬撻,朱古力稱不上很濃郁,只是醇厚,是靚貨來的,而這跟清新的檸檬醬很是合拍,只嫌撻皮未夠鬆脆。另外,又是那句,太細件了!

Latte也是醇香好喝,入口順喉,沒有令我失望。飯後來杯咖啡,已成為我必需的享受了。

跟老友吃飯最好,可以講飲講食講玩講靚女,無所不談。希望對方喜歡吃過晒廟才拿來的一點心意。

因為朋友office係隔離, 諗住就腳, 所以黎左依度食lunch我地各自叫左$118 o既set lunch, 有soup/starter加main... main course有sandwiches / sausages / pasta 選我點左soup of the day, 係磨菇湯, 幾好飲. 而朋友o既salad都唔錯, 仲好大碟main course就點左sausages... 但真係麻麻, d 腸好淋, 同d 味道好似怪怪地, 一d 都唔香口, 但伴碟o既薯蓉ok而朋友點左sandwiches做main course, 淨係覺得中間好大肉, 好大件. 但佢都話味道一般..店舖環境唔錯, 價錢中間, 但食物味道一般... 應讓唔會再黎

Homemade Terrine of Pork。是日的餐湯是南瓜湯,不太吸引,所以我們還是選頭盤好了。點這個純粹是看到有個豬字,事前完全不知道是什麼東西來的。賣相像扎肉,又像肴肉,旁邊伴著 麵包和放在Le Creuset小鍋子裡的特製醬汁。凍肉味道不錯,裡面有開心果果粒,增加口感,黑胡椒粒的香辣蓋過了豬肉臟的腥味,吃的時候加一些紅蘿蔔粒製成的甜味芥 末醬,味道更突出。木製盤子中間有一些甜甜的香草葉,不知道是那一款,但甜甜的超好吃。

Pottod Salmon。切粒的煙三文魚肥美,油脂豐富,與味道濃郁的酸忌廉配合,旁邊有幾塊薄薄的粟米脆片,把煙三文魚放在上面一起吃,真的好吃得不得了,後來我們連另一款頭盤剩下的麵包也用來配吃。

Grilled Sausages, Mustard Mash, Onion Gravy。這是自家製的豬肉腸,賣相不俗,有芥末薯蓉伴碟,不過我不太喜歡吃這裡腸,口感有點滑滑黏黏的,像加入了些膠質類的東西,味道其實還可以,特別是配了洋蔥gravy,只是我偏向喜歡肉味重,多汁juicy的腸。薯蓉打得不夠滑,薯味也不突出,雖說是芥末薯蓉,但多加點忌廉會更好。

The little piggy Cottage pie。焗成金黃色的pie,裡面藏著的其實是蕃茄味的肉醬,蓋上一層薯蓉,再加一塊芝士去烤焗,不過芝士可以再多加一些,如果盛起來有牽絲的效果就更加 好,而且肉醬的部份味道比較淡,多點芝士的鹹香味道會更豐富。旁邊的意大利黑醋牛油生菜正好可以中和一下滯漏感。

加$20可以有是日甜品,加$30就 有甜品和餐飲,可是是日甜品是蘿蔔蛋糕,沒什麼興趣。然後店員就拿來另一個黑板,裡面有好幾款$58的甜品,在她的介紹之下選了人氣最盛的banana fedge。這個叫作eton mess的甜品是我近來吃過最最好吃的甜品,連鬆弛都讚不絕口,好吃得想連杯底都舔埋。裡面有朱古力brownie粒,加入幼滑輕盈的忌廉,配上新鮮的香 蕉片和香甜微脆的蛋白餅粒,雖然每款材料都只是很簡單,但集合在一起是意想不到的好吃,只可惜太細杯了,好吃得幾乎想多點一個。

除了頭盤的Homemade Terrine of Pork外,好像還沒有好好品嚐到這裡的豬有多好吃,主菜不算特別突出,反而頭盤和甜品是真心推介的,況且這裡的用餐環境很舒適,三五知己一起來就最好不過呢。

When I was looking at the new restaurants section, I saw THE SALTED PIG, it sounded quite British for some reason but at that time there was no reviews on it.

Then later I found that IVYCWK had been there and from one of her photos I saw the words Bubble and Squeak so I was thrilled and had to go there asap!

When I got there, the restaurant had this rustic feel to it but it somehow felt American, it reminded me of the books "Of mice and Men" and "Grapes of Wrath".
The music that was playing in the background also took you back in time.

The menu was simple, it was printed on the table sheets, the one for dinner is different so there is a dinner sheet for dinner.

Basically for lunch there are three sets to choose from depending on your apetite and whether you want something simple or complex.
For me I needed complexity and I was hungry too!!!
You can choose from Piglet, Porker or Wild boar.
Analyzing the menu it did seem quite british because it had items such as Buttie, Ploughmans etc.

I picked two Wild boars lunches and chose soup of the day and the Homemade Terrine of pork because the salads were quite ordinary.
Then for the mains I ordered the All day breakfast which was a must have because of the bubble and squeak and the Ploughmans platter.

The food was served on these coated metal plates which were extremely light and they reminded me of school dinners somehow.

Sweetcorn and potato soup:
The soup was a good start, this was the soup of the day. I couldnt quite taste the potatoes but there were lots of spices in the soup and generous croutons and fresh cream.
It was a simple sweetcorn soup that was not so simple because it was loaded with other tastes as well.

The presentation of this was good and I loved the cute pot that held the pickles, it was bright orange and matched the pickles in it.
There was lots mustards seeds in the pickles.
It reminded me of Chutney and it had pieces of cauliflower and carrots, it was very refreshing and appetizing.

As for the Terrine I really loved it because it had pistachios and lots of strong herbs in it. It was wrapped in ham before it was sliced. So it has ham on the outside and not pastry.

I was expecting a huge sandwich with pickles and cheese but it was a board mostly of salami which was disappointing.
Hence I felt that it was not so British because if they insisted with the charcuterie, there should have been less charcuteries, more cheese, apples and pickles.
There were only ONE piece of cheese on that board.

The scotch egg did not look like an scotch egg, the shape was flat, after cutting it opened I found half an egg in there which explains the shape.

However the egg yolk was quite nice, it was semi cooked to the pointed that it was not starchy.
The terrine was the same as the terrine in the starter.

In terms of BIG, it was not big and the way it was served was exactly like the breakfasts at The green waffle in a skilet.
There was one poached egg, but on the menu it states eggs. The mushroom was one big portabello mushroom.
The bubble and squeak which I was looking forward to was just the same as the skilet breakfasts at the Green Waffle which is a mix of potatoes, bacon and onion.
It was close but not as good as the Bubble and Squeak in the UK because the UK version had scrambled eggs, cheese and alot of other items in it as well.

After finishing the mains, I was still extremely hungry and on the menu it said you could add $20 for dessert which you cannot choose.

The dessert board was brought over and there were five choices and I did not want the carrot cake for $20 which came with the set lunch.

There were three that I were interested in, white chocolate pistachio mousse, banana Eaton mess and the Raspberry marshmallow with rhubarb.

Again the dessert menu seemed quite British because it had the Eaton mess and rhuburb.

I chose the Rhubarb marshmallow.

Raspberry marshmallow with rhubarb:
It would have been good if it was a real marshmallow but it was mousse, however the centre of the mousse was still quite icy and it had not been thawed properly. The Rhubarb on top was surperb the sourness of the rhubarb complemented the sweetness of the mousse.

If I knew the Ploughmans had so much cold cuts of salami I would have chosen the pork sandwich and see how good their pork is.

這裡有香港人店員及菲律賓籍店員,侍應們很友善又勤快!

一坐下,男店員亦很窩心地問我,要熱水還是凍水?服務貼心!
隨後有一位男店員放低一本時裝及一本飲食雜誌給我,讓食客增添品味!連眼睛也輕鬆下來!
另一位則主動走來幫我影相,仍保持禮貌及笑容!完全感受到熱情的招待!

天然橙黃色的南瓜湯的顏色非常悅目,加入忌廉作點綴!顏色對比鮮明!

趁熱食還好,表層芝士一拉....可拉到兩、三吋高!
相信芝士份量真不少!除了芝士之外,還有茄膏,惹味非常!
配料主要是切得薄身的茄子及新鮮豬肉碎,芝士鹹香及肉汁滲入茄子,誘發味蕾;豬肉碎卻沒有肥豬肉,肉味濃郁,肉質帶嚼勁!

朱古力撻配以香橙醬,看起來不錯的!朱古力香醇幼滑,好像食緊朱古力一樣,特別之處混入橙汁,
既帶出朱古力濃香之餘又不甜膩,口味多變化!香橙醬味酸清新,有助解膩;又不會喧賓奪主。兩者十分匹配!至於撻身鬆化!食完好滿足!

衞生方面,連洗手間也型格過人!


另外,現階段仍是 Soft opening ,Grand Opening party 則會在 1~2 weeks 之後,要視乎員工的進度而定。

只是 Soft opening 大約 2 weeks, 食物味道及質素做得出色有水準,食物配搭方面亦花上心思!看得出店方製作認真。用餐後又詢問我對食物的意見,感覺良好。
整體令人印象深刻!


張單放進玻璃樽,更有型!要設加一!埋單時,店員會把找續的錢放進玻璃樽,方便大家!
