怎麼只有一片「大」麵包?

味道來得相當驚喜!

內裡是溫熱柔軟的棉花糖,

外層烤得乾身香脆,還有濃濃的麥香!

我已經忘記平時擔當重要角色的牛油。(牛油也很軟滑)

沒吃過如此有水準的麵包很久了,

相信咀叼的法國人也會愛上它。

我幾乎想只吃鬆脆的麥香外層,

最飽肚的內層都遞給隊長 (喂~)

見他也吃得津津有味,

而且也讚外層超水準,

就讓他好好享用這片麵包吧。

只有一片,而且是超水準級數,

份量實在不夠滿足我對餐包的慾望。

我的主菜點了羊柳卷,是 Orange Tree 推介主菜之一。

很多人不吃羊肉,是基於抗拒羊肉的羶味。

這道果然是店家的重點推介,

羊柳柔嫩多汁,零羶味,

散發著牛油香的酥皮把羊柳卷起,封著肉汁,而且沒有骨頭,

世上有牛柳,原來也有叫羊柳的美食。

羊柳下是烤茄子,吸收了羊柳的肉汁,

感覺不像吃茄子,盡是羊汁的精華。

配合與奶油煮為一體的韭蔥,口感香滑。

一切都來得太驚喜,迷迭香汁相對顯得平傭。

點了 medium 剛好沒有血水,而且散發肉香,

肉質柔軟富彈性,有嚼勁,肉味香濃,

相比之下,還是羊柳較突出有驚喜。

另外,我們點了盤 Side dish: “Hutspot” mash potatoes

就是薯蓉混合紅蘿蔔和洋蔥。

廚子應該很喜歡迷迭香吧,

每道菜也灑上迷迭香,或配以其醬汁。

吃完了薯蓉也有飽肚感了。

I heard that this was the only Dutch bistro thats really owned by a Dutch. (Btw the chef really talks in Dutch in the kitchen)I booked a table for two a day before i went with my mom. I booked a table for two a day before i went with my mom. When we went in at 6:30, the place was empty. But when its getting around 7:30-8:00, people started coming in and it became quite noisy and crowded. Though if u come in earlier, its very relaxing and romantic.

We had

1. "Garnaaltjes" shrimps with toast and salad
It was served in a very small potion, since its an appetizer. I recommend you eating it with the toast and side salad if you want to order this dish. It tastes not bad but no wow factor, however quite special.

2. Pan fried whole dover sole with side veggies
It was grilled perfectly, no sight of undercook or overcook. However its quite dry and tasteless, i tried squeezing as much of juice from the lemons but its useless, maybe im just not a big fan of grilled food.

3. Lamb fillets and eggplant baked in puff pastry

Now i see why this dish is greatly recommended by lots of people. this dish is perfect, the sauce goes perfect with the lamb fillet and the eggplant. Theres a wow factor in it, i can still see smoke coming out of it when its served, its amazing
Even if you dont like lamb meat or eggplant, you should def order this if youre visiting this place!!!

4. Poffertjes with vanilla ice cream
I wasnt planning to order this because i already had ice cream earlier, but then at the end i did. And i have to say I AM SO GRATEFUL I DID! This is one of their best dishes indeed, special and tasty. The first bite of the poffertjes wowed me, it was warm and eggy and very tummy satisfied. The vanilla ice cream wasnt cheap at all, you know its european ice cream by the texture and taste of it.

* I also ordered a glass of French Rose Wine, its a pretty velvet color. It tastes okay
Id still choose champagne over wine

I recommend this bistro if you want to try Dutch food, the service wasnt as bad as the others had said and if you pick the right dishes, you would have a wonderful time there

When people pay big money on a meal, they tend to say the best about it, because no one wants to look like a schmuck that pays over $1000 for a piece of dogsh!t on a rock. But maybe it's time to put down the arrogance,  try not to out-smart the truth, and admit it's a mistake. I did. Yes Orange Tree is expensive, but the food certainly doesn't live up to it's price. Here I'm talking about the quality as well as the fantastically small portion that finds a hard time satisfying even a toddler. It'

It's ok if you are on diet or one of the good-food-must comes-a-small-portion crowd. When we pay we don't just pay for the food but also the service, and thats the main problem about this place. We ordered the main course and side dishes, no drinks, we ain't drinkers, and from then on the waitresses put on a face of 'go to Cafe De Coral next time' to us, up until we walked out the door.
Try to avoid this place if you don't wanna take that sh!t. But I have to say the location is ok, up in the mountain, a bit away from the Soho crowd.

Walked pass this restaurant the other day at Soho after work, I only ordered a main dish because I wasn’t that hungry at all but knew I had to stuff something down my stomach so I ordered this….Steak Tartar “Orange Tree Style”Served with a mixed salad and French Fries $228-The texture of the tartar was mushy and raw, it was kind of weird at first but when I spread on some baguette toasts the texture became much better. Steak Tartar “Orange Tree Style”
Served with a mixed salad and French Fries $228-
The texture of the tartar was mushy and raw, it was kind of weird at first but when I spread on some baguette toasts the texture became much better. I liked the mayonnaise dipping sauce for the fries; I actually enjoyed the fries more than the tartar itself… The mixed salad was fresh and the pickles on the side were there just right because whenever my tasting palette went bland from too much raw steak I munched a piece of pickle and it would balance out the taste of raw meat in my mouth.

Overall an average restaurant I came across randomly at Soho place, might give it another shot and tryout other cooked dishes if I get the chance to, maybe the cooked dishes doesn’t taste that weird after all?

半山唔太就腳。。平時好少去。。不過今日食pre-Valentine's day dinner。。就即管試下新野。。餐廳細細間。。可能係平日。。冇坐滿。。燈光較暗。。情調都啱傾計談情。。佢地嘅餐前麵包幾重麥味。。入面軟熟。。出面有少少脆。。不錯。。頭盤我地揀左青口。。數量比想像中多。。超過20隻。。不過size細左啲。。啲湯好鮮甜。。如果唔係怕失禮。。差啲想飲埋 主菜我地揀左海鮮扁意粉。。幾足料。。但係味道冇乜驚喜。。似一般西餐廳貨。。另外我地仲叫左個beef tenderloin。。medium。。叫個侍應推介sauce。。佢話紅酒汁。。磨菇汁同truffle jus都幾好。。。我地就揀左少啲見嘅truffle jus。。塊扒邊位有少少燒到乾左。。不過整體都幾juicy同淋。。同好香嘅truffle jus非常夾。。真係好介紹。。而配菜嘅薯仔都幾香滑。。本來我地仲想試下荷蘭式甜品。。不過飽啦。。下次再試 到想埋單果陣。。啲侍應唔見晒人。。唔知係咪因為檯檯都上晒菜呢??搞到要特登行入去叫埋單

Poffertjes are made with yeast and buckwheat flour which look like small, fluffy pancakes. Unlike American pancakes, they have a light, spongy texture.
They were like cute coin pockets that were soft and fluffy with delicious powdered sugar on top.
I felt they tasted great without the icecream because the icecream was too overpowering.
Although there is no cheese in the recipe, it tasted like there was cheese and it was savoury too which was even more delicious.
They were so delicious, I finished them really quickly!
I'll be back.

由於Super Monday 的offer實在是吸引,而上班的也日子實在是需要一點動力,所以和MR決定要每月嚐一間餐廳,順道當作每月紀念日的慶祝。是次,我們決定了要去Orange Tree。由於上星期想要 walk-in 不果,這次我們早早訂了位置。怎料,到達時waitress說沒有我們的名字,但她說可以讓我們坐內房。隨她入內看一下,大概有5-6 張桌子。環境是可以的,就是有一點油煙味。跟她是我們8:30 前可以吃畢,她也讓我們坐回外面。其實7:30 時間尚早,還有不少空桌。不算太餓。就只點了一個Main course和 Grill.分別是Roasted Grain fed Chicken Breast with Thyme Jus With “Hutspot” 和Rib Eye Steak with Forest Mushroom Sauce。再加上了一支2011 年的chardonnay (詳細的就忘了)上菜很快,先來麵包,有麥香味,我們請她為我們加熱麵包,味道更好。牛油是軟滑的,只是不算香。主菜,上桌已有一陣香氣,熱熱的。不吃羊的我也嚐了一點。軟軟的羊肉,沒有我很怕的羊騷味兒。M

上菜很快,先來麵包,有麥香味,我們請她為我們加熱麵包,味道更好。牛油是軟滑的,只是不算香。
主菜,上桌已有一陣香氣,熱熱的。不吃羊的我也嚐了一點。軟軟的羊肉,沒有我很怕的羊騷味兒。MR 說他喜歡。而我反而更喜歡一旁的Hutspot,就是薯蓉加上紅蘿蔔和洋蔥。甜甜的有點像甜薯。
而Rib Eye Steak也很不錯,Medium對我來說是剛剛好。沒有血水也沒有太”鞋”,肉質很不錯。配上mushroom sauce ,很快吃光光。

兩份Main courses份量很足,加上酒都飽了。反正不想吃得撑著肚子,就沒再叫甜點。還是下回好了。

結賬,忘了出示Super Monday card,因為一向別的餐廳都自動減去一個main course的價錢。更正後結賬是$570。

愉快的星期一晚上。

Shaved Serrano Ham (aged 36 months) with Cantaloupe Melon($126):前菜選擇吃火腿,數量尚可,肉質很嫩,味道好。配火腿的除了哈密瓜,亦有Radish。我們對這紅色蘿蔔沒有好感,事關有次吃到又硬又酸的,沒想到今次的又爽又甜,令我們對radish改觀喇!

Boerenkool beef stew($248):我根本不知道Boerenkool一詞是甚麼,幸好科技發達,隨時可以上網查到答案。原來是傳統的荷蘭食物,簡單來說就是蔬菜拌薯茸。賣相雖然一般,但味道很棒,又香又滑。至於燉牛肉也不遜色,絕對不像又嚡又老的湯渣,反而很嫩、很入味,好!

美中不足的是Orange Tree的Super Mondays 有限制,兩個人不能點四個主菜,真的只是買一送一,下次我會多約一個朋友,因為三人行才可以吃四個主菜,這樣較著數嘛!

The eel and herrings were very nicely smoke and serve cold. The shrimps was mixed with some sauce, the texture was alright, but not use to small shrimp like this, I would prefect a prawn cocktail style shrimp.

A very classic western dish. The mussels were fried with garlic, thyme and white wine. It wasn’t the season of mussels, hence it wasn’t fresh enough. But overall the taste was okay.

Poffertjes (Dutch Coin Size Pancakes) with Vanilla Ice cream (5/10)
The poffertjes were nicely made, it was bouncy with a fragrant egg flavour. The icing sugar gave a bit of sweetness to the pancake and the ice cream was the perfect way to mix it.

To sum up, this restaurant has a comfortable atmosphere, once you sat down, you won’t want to leave. The food has it standard, however the location is rather inconvenient.

Give me a thumbs up if you like it!

That is EXACTLY what the owner said to my friends as he handed us the bill, "Next time, why don't you go to McDonalds", and he wasn't joking. IT WAS ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING BEHAVIOR BY ANY MEASURE. We just stunned and cannot understand why he said those words, why would you EVER say that to a customer, especially when they are paying? We were polite and friendly customers who were just enjoying ourselves and out of the blue, he just said it as we handed us the bill. I was so upset that I made an account just to let everyone know what happened. I hope you read this Orange Tree Restaurant Owner and understand you just lost our business and our friends' business.

As for the food - mediocre, it was not bad, it was just average. A bit too salty for my taste.

We will never return.

MP的Appetizers是一份“Bitter Ballen” ~~~deep fried beef dumplings with Dijon mustard也,是一個在平時的menu上也有的菜式~ 用薯蓉加牛肉粒而成的炸球甚得我倆歡心,既是因為香脆可口,也是因為牛肉粒明顯地有咬感。薯蓉和牛肉從來都是好朋友,一定配得來. 這次小妹要力讚!

然後我要的是cold dish:: eel, herrings and shrimp. 份量可不少呢! 兩款魚類都以類似醋鯖魚的方法去調味,所以很對我的胃口~ 平時不吃希靈魚因為很討厭它的魚子,不過論到只吃魚肉的話其實也不錯的! 頭盤方面令人滿意!

來到主菜就更歡喜! 先是份量和味道都相對是輕量版的black mussels in white wine sauce。大約20-30隻小mussels, 很鮮甜,加上薯條是chunk fries, 最合我倆口味! 這份主菜很有荷蘭/比利時風味,讚好~

另一個巨人版主菜Oven Roasted Lamb Shanks with Thyme Jus With “Hutspot” (Carrot/Potato/Onion) Mash. 這支羊腿真的不得了! 份量wise 是非常強勁! 味道wise 也是很出眾~ roast得很香,肉很tender, 材料非常優秀! mash 也很有特色,紅蘿蔔粒和洋蔥粒都是撈薯蓉的好拍擋. 這份主菜的美味程度很難以用筆墨形容,大家還是親身一嘗好了!

最後是甜品環節~ Poffertjes (Dutch Coin Size Pancakes) with Vanilla Ice cream是鎮店之寶,我倆怎能放過! Pancake煙煙靭靭,很香的蛋味,面頭的糖霜給它剛剛好的甜度,而bite size的pancake加雪糕就最適合女孩子吃,不過,我們家愛甜的MP比我吃得更多呢!

另一甜品Dutch apple pie,荷蘭風格的蘋果批是也~ 這份蘋果批也有配上雪糕~ 蘋果切得一大塊一大塊的,很是豪邁! 批反而不夠牛油香,重麵粉多於其他材料,可能這就是dutch風格? 是ok的,不過我倆都prefer Poffertjes~~

一個星期就這樣過去了! 在三次的restaurant week食之體驗裡,小妹最喜歡這家餐廳! 真要的起心肝再走上這斜坡一次,去試酥皮羊肉 Lamb Fillets and Eggplant baked in Puff Pastry!!

I have never felt the need to write a restaurant review but I was so dissatisfied with the service tonight that I couldn't hold back. First of all, i asked for a glass of hot water because it's quite chilly out. They wanted to charge me HKD20/ per glass of hot water. Who does that??? you can not force ppl to buy water!!!!!! Not one restaurant from Michellin star to a hole in the wall have i been to asked to pay for a glass of boiled water. Next, i asked if i could add one more person to the tabl

The table had 4 spots and I can understand that they felt one of the spots was quite tight but at least be patient about it. to the ordering...... i had to waved the waitress down several times to get her attn and as i was ordering my (paid for water), I wanted to add a tea and she dissapeared. Finally came back to take the rest of our order. Brought back the wrong tea....we wanted LEMON WITH TEA. NOT JUST A TEABAG!

took awhile for the food to get to us. When the bill came, they insisted that we show them the 2-4-1 card for Mondays. This is the first time, i've have any of the restarants actually ask us to show them the fricking card. The only reason why it's so busy on a bloody monday it's because it's 2-4-1. There is a REASON WHY IT"S FULL NOT BECAUSE YOUR SERVICE AND FOOD IS AMAZING.

To sum it all up, one of the worst restaurant experience in HK EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you are hoping for someone to give you attitidue then this place will not dissapoint.

朋友預先選定呢一間西餐廳同我食一餐生日飯, 因為太忙, 最後遲左個半星期至食到由朋友發板叫推介既菜式慶祝我呢個遲來既生日飯好有氣氛既一餐半打生蠔, 雖然瘦左D, 但海水味濃.. 好新鮮一串我3粒.. 我地4個人要share.. 唔夠食..酥皮羊幾特別. 外層係酥皮, 入面係好林既羊肉用薯仔片黎整既焗薯蓉大蝦意粉, 但用左我唔食既扁意粉, 但我都賞面食左少少牛扒都ok, 係嚴要4成變左6成熟.. 但肉質其實係唔錯既, 配上新解炸薯條店內既菲藉侍應服務就麻麻, 要講到好明白佢地至知, 但整體都係唔錯既, 好多謝各朋友為左安排既生日飯.. 食得滿足又好氣氛既一餐荷蘭菜

Under the occasion of the HK Restaurant Week 2011, it gives us a chance to dine in a quality restaurant with a special 3-course menu and an amazing price.

Orange Tree, I heard it’s the only Dutch Restaurant in HK (there’re several restaurants claimed that they’re ‘Dutch’ restaurants but indeed not traditionally running by Dutch owners, except this one). I’m delighted to see this name appears on the list for the HK Restaurants Week Promotion. Without any hesitations, I made a call and reserved a table immediately.

It’s a small running restaurant, not spacious but the general environment is cozy and comfy. The staffs working here are friendly and thoughtful. When I ordered a glass of white wine but it didn’t match with my flavor, the manager offered two other choices to let me tasted and chose again! One thing is quite inconvenient is that here doesn’t serve any tap water nor filter water. Every drink has to be ordered (pay).

For the appetizers, we ordered two different dishes: Black Mussels and Dutch Shrimps with Garden Greens. I like the Mussels in the creamy white wine sauce. It mixed well with the diced Carrots, Shallots, Garlic, Celeriac etc. Smell so good and very rich taste, yummy! The Garden Greens with Shrimps look a bit dry and comparatively less attractive than the Mussels. Taste is alrite, fortunately the cocktail sauce brings up the taste of the shrimps.

After it, we started our main courses, we ordered: Lamb Fillets with Eggplants and Mushroom Risotto with Truffle Essence. The weight of the Lamb fillets is not too much. It serves only 4 little rolls. We requested medium rare cooked of the Lamb, it lets the meat tastes soft and smooth. I like the Lamb fillet on the sauce of creamed Leeks and Rosemary Jus. Very refreshing! It’s a must order dish if you come here for your first time! The Risotto is a bit too creamy for me. But the flavor of Truffle and Girolles Mushroom are fairly outstanding.

Lastly, we chose three different desserts to end the night: The Chocolate Truffle Cake with Mango Coculis, Icre-cream with Poffertjes (荷蘭雞蛋仔) - the very typical Dutch food and some selected Cheeses with Walnuts. The Choco Cake tastes ordinary, nothing really special. The Poffertjes, the typical Dutch coin size pancakes, it serves with Vanilla Ice-cream, They matched well together! If I come again next time, I must order this dish again! I regretted for choosing the cheese as my ‘dessert’, I don’t mean the cheese taste wrong, just compare to the rest, they’re juicy and sweet, the cheese is just too salty and ‘dry’ for being ‘dessert’. A note to the reader, you may not feel happy of having something salty to end the dinner for the night…

Overall, I think cuisine here is not 100% ‘Dutch’; it’s more like French mixed Dutch. It’s still worthy to come here for a try. It’s situated at up hill high level in Soho area, a quiet environment. It’s recommended to be visited.

以頭盤嚟講,呢個份量既藍青口簡直令人驚喜,而且隻隻青口都充滿海水味,真係抵到冇朋友


食完頭盤之後冇几耐到2個主菜出場,主打既Lamb Fillet 有焗薯既陪同出場,而另外的mushroom risotto 賣相亦相當討好。但由於之前睇過既食評差不多個個都推介呢度菜,所以我同友人急不及待要先將佢放入個口度

Highlight of the meal 果然冇令我地失望,個酥皮好脆,同裏面一D都唔騷既同韌既羊係絶配,再加上夾埋一齊既矮瓜,為我既味覺帶來前所未有的滋味


食完主菜,侍應好禮貌咁問我地使唔使抖陣先上甜品,由於我地2個都想CHAT一陣同埋有D飽,所以欣然接受佢既建議,但D美食落一落格先叫甜品


可能我地真係傾得太開心,所以半粒鈡之後侍應問我地上得甜品未,我地亦ready for them la


一如之前果2個course, 我地叫咗一樣荷蘭地道甜品poffertjes (dutch coin size pancakes) w/vanilla ice,同埋一樣我地中意食既Chocolate Truffle cake,前者個賣相好得意(由於同佢影既相有本人個樣,所以不便UPLOAD, 大家可以睇番其他reviewer既相作參考
),味道冇普通PANCAKE咁甜,但有少少咸味,友人不太接受,結果我就老實不客氣地清咗呢碟甜品


至於Chocolate Truffle cake就同我地想像中既有D出入,唔係好似心太軟咁濕,但係亦冇brownies 咁硬身,但朱古力味就超濃,好朱古力既朋友應該會欣賞


總結全晚既晚餐,無論係食物、環境定係service 我同友人都俾5粒星,好希望下次有机會再嚟happy hour再試埋佢其他特式荷蘭小食
