So I don't normally write on Open Rice ... but my experience at Ya Kun Coffee & Toast this past Saturday was so memorable (in a bad way) that I had to make the effort to come here and write about it.

There was a long queue for dine-in and since I was in a hurry, decided to go for takeaway. I ordered:

I waited patiently for my order in front of this lady in glasses who was in charge of making all the beverages. I was observing everything that was going on and it was just chaotic. Caught a glimpse of the kitchen and it was also messy / dirty. The team didn't really seem like they knew what to do and there wasn't much team work / chemistry going on (to be fair, its a new restaurant) ... although I had slightly higher expectations for Singaporean management, especially since this chain had so many years of experience.

Anyway, I waited some more.

Until the lady wasn't making any drinks anymore. So naturally, I walked up to her and inquired about my order. My card was no. 67 and upon showing the beverage lady, she said my order was no where to be found.

And then she didn't do anything, and proceeded with what she was doing. Naturally, I asked again. "So ... are you going to do anyting about my order?" She then responded in a slightly patronizing tone ... "Drink order I will sort out for you" (she was then making my milk tea) ... and she was going to say "Food order I won't" but she hesitated and seeming unreluctantly, asked her colleague to check on my order. Fortunately, the kitchen was making my sandwich and so in about 2 minutes, I got my tea and my sandwich.

The entire wait took 25 minutes.

Tea was too sweet for my liking but I can appreciate the style. The end sandwich was complete rubbish and came with french fries that were cold in the centre (meaning it was "deep fried" for about a minute from frozen).

Would I go back? Their Laksa actually seemed okay while I was waiting ... but man, good luck Ya Kun. See you in S'pore.

上次新開張時,見最初的comment都好似ok咁,所以諗住試.11點幾經過都有條龍,所以放棄,去左食"吉利尼".今日再試經過,11點半左右,竟然無咩人等,排第二,等左十分鐘左右就得.地下有少少污糟,有d食物0係地下.叫左個喇沙,咖哩雞飯,咖央蒸包,咖啡和奶茶.自助形式,自己去叫野食,等佢拎黎,野食好快就到.先到的蒸包,賣相麻麻.咖哩雞飯,係兩隻雞全翼,食起上黎比較困難.喇沙味道ok,但餸好少,而且只係放在面上,無和喇沙煮過,你未浸湯的話係無喇沙味的...因為無餐,咖啡和茶散叫要廿幾蚊杯.味道正常但感覺不太值.可能因為上次去過"吉利尼",有套餐,價錢相對便宜一點,而且無咁多人,所以感覺較relax..今天這次,真的普通而已.沒下次了...

曾經係新加玻食過亞坤ge 咖央多士,覺得十分好味知道會係香港開分店都十分期待,可惜事與願違由於太多人係入面食緊,決定買外賣算點知排左十五分鐘先知外賣係唔駛排隊, 可以直接入去買我係浩熱中排左十五分鐘為咩講番食物,咖央多士完全唔脆,咖央醬是可以的,但牛油查唔混只屬合格laksa 本身新加玻亞坤好似無賣,黎到香港先有湯底唔香,配料全為雪藏非常失望的一碗

I don't blame them personally, I blame the management for hiring them and not giving adequate training. Their whole service system is flawed; as a business student, seeing such an inefficient system really gets on my nerves.

The cafe is almost solely self-serve; from ordering food to collecting cutlery.

Being a mainly self-serve environment, this gives the staff a lot of idle time. While seated and waiting for my food, it's apparant that their system is flawed; a high number of staff just stand around doing nothing at all - not only does this cause inefficiency, it clutters up cafe space, making movement around the shop less comfortable. If you're going to have so many idle staff, why not put in some service, even simple things like giving us a glass of water or serving us cutlery. I witnessed the table next to mine ask a waitress, who was just standing around staring into space, whether they could get a glass of water. The waitress actually spent the time explaining to them that they had to go get water themselves instead of just helping them with their request.

I ordered the Kaya toast, laksa, soft boiled eggs, and a cold milk tea. The laksa came first, followed by the toast. Half way through my mediocre meal, a waitress comes up to me and asks me whether everything has arrived, as she wants to take back the order number stand. I told her no, and she looks at me confused, says OK, then walks away. Shouldn't you automatically take away the number only when everything has arrived? It should be a simple system, instead of randomly going to each table and asking whether their order is complete, and only then, take away the number if answered affirmatively - I'm eating, and you coming to ask me a question of this nature is annoying.

The laksa came in a meal which included the soft boiled eggs, and totalled to roughly $45. It's a small little bowl (definetly can't fill a big eater treating it as a main meal, but I was only going for a snack so it was sufficient), filled with a rich soup. The taste of the soup is quite nice, but it does lack some of the authentic ingredients such as the mint leaves, fried shallots, and dried clams. 6/10.

The toast was the next item to arrive. The Kaya Toast is supposedly their speciality, and it costs $22. It's 4 pieces of toast, with kaya spread in between them, and a slice of butter. I thought it tasted quite nice, but again, nothing special.  7/10.

Soft boiled eggs arrived late, and its aesthetics were subpar. The egg whites were too runny, it was like you had to drink it. I believe proper soft boiled eggs still have some structure to it, while the yolk is soft and slightly runny. The taste was bland. 2/10.

Lastly, the milk tea. It took them roughly 20 minutes to bring it, and due to the fact I was very thirsty at the time I was not impressed at all. The milk tea was $28, and in my opinion, extremely over priced, as ice took up most of the space. Not only was the taste very average, but it also lacked quantity. Rip off. 2/10.

If they continue with their current system, I promise you they won't last at all. I'm not sure whether the shops in Singapore adopt the same system, but if they do, I question wholeheartedly, how they managed to expand to Hong Kong. For simple Singaporean street food, I don't think it's worth checking out. You can find just as good, if not better kaya french toast and milk tea in many of Hong Kong's local cha chaan teng for a better price and experience.

If this store wants to succeed, they must first hire proper staff, or give their current roster adequate training. I forgot to mention that their current staff are incapable of holding more than one dish at a time, so when a table has two dishes ready, they require TWO waiters/waitresses to bring one each - unacceptable. In addition to better staff, they need a new system. With a self-serve environment, you don't need so many staff, the result is evident with groups of idle staff, and most importantly for a business, it's INEFFICIENT. Cut staff or make it a place that provdes at least a slightly higher degree of service.

Overall, the place is a mess in terms of functionality, and the food is VERY average for its costs. I will not be coming back again until I hear they have undergone some changes.

一點也不新加坡香港亞坤同新加坡有好大出入,大家唔好用新加坡既標準去評價。點了咖喱雞、加央多士、半熟蛋、咖喱叻沙同兩杯飲品。咖喱雞,味道普通,不夠味,也不夠熱。加央多士,加央偏少,多士也算脆。半熟蛋,完全失敗,係全熟,已經變硬,沒有流心,夠膽拎出黎比人食都算你好野。咖喱叻沙,味道不錯,配料份量較少。連半熟蛋都無,真的沒有新加亞的感覺。

Ya kun is one of my favorite food in sgp. 急不及待要試!但係有d 失望個 kaya toast 唔够crispy. HK store 有新food , so of coz 要試下,就係steam bun. 都係無咩特別,is just like regular steam bread with peanut butter. There is one like to give which is the milk tea,够大杯and 味道唔錯

近年不斷有新加坡食店來港開業,「亞坤」喺其中一員,佢喺咩來頭,甚麼咖吔多人氣店、星洲70多年老店、南洋風味咖啡奶茶……等等,我諗雜誌、食評講唔少,可能大家仲熟過小弟!最近,難得到訪星洲hea幾日,自不然走訪一下當地亞坤,好想親自比較一下兩地嘅出品,究竟有咩差別?喺咪好似人哋所講新加坡店好啲。不過需補充說明一下,由於同老婆唔喺咩覓食團,自由行隨處盪,志在放鬆一下心身,只喺臨離開時,晌樟宜機場T3分店食過,加上只有兩公婆,可試嘅嘢有限,所以,絕對唔喺一個全面嘅亞坤比較,再者,人人對味道要求有別,純粹跟大家分享一下,唔使對小弟食文太認真!講講新加坡亞坤先,除上述嘅機場店,亦有路經武吉士(Bugis)白沙浮商場(Bugis Junction)分店,成個地庫喺美食天地,有好多出名嘅食店,如麵屋武藏、翡翠拉麵小籠包、板長壽司、Subway、Bread Papa、BreadTalk、Twelve Cupcakes……等等。而依間亞坤店舖較細,但光猛企理,由於傍晚時份經過,未見好多人,不過,就算唔使等都未有試,因為晌附近有個雅柏熟食中心,仲多地道嘢食,留肚去嗰邊食晚餐。至於機場店,因為當日我哋12:3

至於機場店,因為當日我哋12:30pm到,亦喺未有好多客
,不過,食完個晏晝1:00pm走時,則好多晌機場嘅上班族喺度搵食。而裝修亦催向簡單,舊式方形木櫈,有少少老舊大牌檔味道。唯一特別喺,依間店喺24小時營業,不論大家搭咩時間飛機,想食亞坤都應該可以食到

食物嘅種類選擇唔多,抬頭一望乜都睇晒,一行招牌吐司,一行冷熱飲品,另一行吐司套餐,而飽肚嘢只得4款:叻沙(Laksa)、馬來西亞鹵麵(Mee Rebus)、泰國酸辣米粉(Mee Siam)及咖喱雞(Curry Chicken),而依4款嘢香港店都有得買。

套餐包兩隻糖心蛋及啡茶一杯,落單後拎住號碼牌等送嚟。一份咖椰牛油吐司有4件,咖椰醬本身雖然偏甜,但薄薄塗得平均,再夾住一小片牛油,甜度恰到好處,全麥吐司亦鬆化脆口
;老婆一向唔食生蛋,所以糖心蛋就由小弟一人處決,睇樣好綿滑,不過蛋黃有少少過度凝固
,唔算完全嘅軟綿,不過,加咗黑醬油,整體味道仍然不俗;至於杯熱牛奶咖啡,唔使加糖,入口醇香,濃郁而唔帶酸味
。順帶一提,咖啡(或茶),都分為牛奶咖啡(Kopi,咖啡加煉奶)、咖啡-O(Kopi-O,咖啡加蔗糖)、咖啡-C(Kopi- C,咖啡加花奶及煉奶)。本來後尾想追加一客散點嘅雪糕吐司(SGD2.4),雪糕有得揀榴槤添,可惜唔知咩原因,無得買!

香港人始終重視包裝,所以店內環境都落重本少少,挨住落地玻璃窗有大梳化椅,其他櫈亦喺有梳化椅墊,光猛開揚、份外舒適
。近入口嘅一幅牆畫,女孩拎住「阿坤外賣」遊歷新加坡各處名勝,再次強調「她」嚟自星洲
!連所有杯碟都印晒「亞坤」個嘜頭。

咖椰牛油吐司套餐 $39

香港店跟新加坡機場店,散點吐司多咗草莓吐司塊及火腿芝士吐司條2款,不過,相反少咗1款當地名為Butter Sugar Toast;吐司套餐除Butter Sugar Toast外,款式都喺一樣。要比較,就梗喺盡量試番多款,所以,亦點一客Set A咖椰牛油吐司套餐,同樣一份咖椰牛油吐司、兩隻糖心蛋及熱啡茶一杯,可是定價比新加坡店貴30%啊
,可見租金嘅「魔」力!個人而言,咖椰牛油吐司真喺跟晌機場店食到嘅無乜分別,依然薄脆鬆化嘅全麥吐司,依然薄而細塊嘅牛油
;今次試到嘅糖心蛋效果好好多,蛋黃半凝固,始終若跟足程序,以指定溫度、時間烚煮,出錯機會都較細;杯熱牛奶咖啡,味道同樣濃郁醇香,唯一分別,似乎比嗰邊大杯少少嘞

兩地店舖嘅分別喺,香港店嘅咖喱雞則跟吐司或飯,無百吉包,此外,定價要比新加坡店貴40%喔
!味道上,似乎兩地相差無幾,咖喱汁一樣香濃唔太複雜,但質感相對上較杰身少少;內裡同樣有薯仔同雞件,不過無雞鎚,卻有雞翼,啲雞亦喺算唔上嚡,亦唔叫得嫩滑。

綜觀兩地店鋪嘅出品,其實水準相若,就算有分別都喺微差,不過,睇埋其他人嘅食評,發覺似乎水準頗為唔穩定,服務亦都比較混亂,究其原因,估計以目前嘅人手根本應付唔到人潮
。做咩都喺架喇,一急就亂,一亂就錯。再者,因為各項成本,香港店嘅定價實在貴好多。所以,小弟覺得想食平靚正又唔使等嘅亞坤,倒不如有機會去新加坡玩之時先去試
,就算無機會跑到老遠過新加坡,想慕名一試香港店,都喺讓熱潮過去,等營運、製作上晒軌道才去幫襯,先為上算

奶茶可能唔記得落糖水,淡而無味,好似飲緊冰茶咁生熟蛋,係全熟蛋王,我見佢開親出黎都係蛋王熟哂Order兩碗叻沙,唔好味多士牛油太多,一大舊放在多士中間,揸得唔夠均等

想叫沙冰無沙冰,雪糕咖啡又話無雪糕,最後叫了凍奶茶少冰,咖咉花生醬多士,咖咉球及溫泉蛋。奶茶得3/4杯滿,淡如水,叫少冰又唔多覺少冰;咖咉多士唔脆只是微暖;咖咉球ok但有點偏甜;溫泉蛋蛋黃又散晒。

星期六下午,餐廳入面其實有空位,但都係餐廳外等左好耐,因為人手有點不足。店內有潮濕的味道,環境不太舒適。入到去,見到座位有幾滴豉油,好彩無坐落去,自己抹完先發現原來枱都無人抹。食物如下:咖哩叻沙蝦,好多辣椒油但無咩椰味。kaya多士,係新加坡食既係牛油已經溶左,口感好好!但呢間既牛油好似自己平時食多士時放舊牛油入去咁,多士同牛油分離熱奶茶,淡如水總括黎講,好差,同新加坡既味道唔同,真係驚佢做壞招牌!

從未試過咁差嘅食品.貴不特止,服務同食品質素都差冇可差.叫左:咖哩叻沙蝦湯麵,咖咉多士餐全店得一個餐,其他全要散叫,大家明架啦!咖哩叻沙蝦湯麵:湯底得個辣字之外咩味都冇,所有料都係預早做定,加湯後再放餸上面,蝦,蛋同魚片都係凍嘅,蝦重要唔新鮮帶梅,魚片薄到吹得起,蛋太老,個麵好硬似瀨粉.咖咉多士餐:個蛋一睇都知有幾水,同冇煮分別唔太大,重要有黑點,咖咉多士有幾大個窿,多士薄到真可憐又唔脆,咖咉好小味道一般,牛油多個咖咉.失敗!凍奶茶:話係拉茶,味淡唔滑.超多冰.整體:完全唔值這個價錢,差到唔會再去.

整體:完全唔值這個價錢,差到唔會再去.

-waited around 15 minutes on the street for a table, but there were many empty seats and tables in the restaurant -waited another 10 minutes in a lineup to pay for the pre-ordered food-no one was cleaning the tables and the order number signs were left everywhere on empty tables, the place was a mess-many of the food and drinks on the menu were not available, despite it is only a weekday and not even yet 3pm, very minimal choices of food and drinks-ordered signature hot coffee, but already went

-ordered signature hot coffee, but already went cold when arrived at my table

-signature eggs were okay, but the dark soy sauce is not the singapore type sweet dark soy sauce 

-ordered laksa, and waited for 15 minutes but the food never arrived.  After checking with the waitress, found out they didn't put through my order which I had already paid for! The waitress took my paid receipt and went disappeared, not letting me know if someone was actually getting me my laksa or not! Waited for a while again, I still didn't get my food! I reached out for help from another waitress, and the response I got is asking me to find the waitress I was talking to from before! I never got my laksa at the end, and I asked for a refund of the noodle which never arrived! It took me a long time and had to went through different people to get my money back!! 

--overall SUPER TERRIBLE SERVICE & DINING EXPERIENCE!!!!
--summary, WILL NEVER VISIT AGAIN!!!!!! 

-to add on, the next 2 tables were also complaining about the food and service! But one of them was luckier than me as they quickly got their money refunded once they found that their noodle order was also missed out when they heard that the restaurant never got my order!

因公司o係附近,成日心郁郁想試,但無奈太多人。終於等到冇咁多人咪試下囉。懷住期待既心情去試,點知失望到不得了,服務差不在講,去到排長龍,所以買外賣,入去餐廳問職員,佢叫我喺出面排隊等買,等左大約15分鐘,見入面既cashier都冇人排隊買野,唯有入去再問,點知企cashier既職員話可以就咁買,果一下真係好上爆佢,30幾度玩野咩。咁咪睇Menu 叫左碗咖哩叻沙,睇相好豐富,有蝦,有蛋,有其他配料。咁cashier 就叫我等20 分鐘,我見o個度地方又細又咁多人等攞食物,cashier 話要20 分鐘,咁我咪行返公司等一陣先落去攞囉。返到去比個號碼佢,佢話冇 order 。我同佢講冇理由,號碼牌我有單又有點會冇 order。個人淨係話冇跟住就唔理我,o個刻 d 火簡直衝上雲宵。咁既然佢唔理我又冇人幫到我,我唯有自己裝下佢個度有冇d take away 野放o係度無人認領。咁我自己睇係我個no,咁我問o個staff淨係講唔知走算,真係咁既服務態度點得o架,我都費事嘈攞野走啦。點知返到公司打開碗o野,d 火真係一發不可收拾。成碗咖哩叻沙我搵極都搵唔到有蝦,淨係得兩舊豆"朴"。我心諗唔係咁搵笨

新加坡咖喱喇沙蝦麵 $42 配料約4隻蝦(沒什麼特別)、4片非常薄的魚片,但有魚味、全熟蛋和豆卜。湯底濃稠適中,有蝦味及魚的鹹香味,頗辣,幸好有椰汁中和辣的剌激,連我只吃少辣都可接受,椰奶也令湯底味道更香濃及杰身些,令本身沒有味道的麵條都能沾滿湯汁,吃吧只剩少許湯汁,味道不錯,集鹹香辣的味道,可惜等得太久,所以我是不會再來。朋友在新加坡帶來它出品的咖吔醬,塗了很多醬在方包上,味道不吸引;於是舀約半茶匙淨吃,先是很香蛋味,繼而甜鹹交集,味道令我想起在吃燉蛋似的,很好味啊,於是整樽咖吔醬也是這樣分多次慢慢品嚐,否則不值用$45買來塗麵包。
